Confirmed: Biereth joins RKC Waalwijk on loan

Mika Biereth has joined Dutch side RKC Waalwijk on loan for the 2022/23 season.

The Denmark under-19 international is yet to make a senior appearance for the Gunners but was part of Mikel Arteta’s matchday squads on a number of occasions last season as a reward for his impressive form at under-23 level.

Biereth, who signed for the Gunners from Fulham last summer, scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for Kevin Betsy’s side and was nominated for Premier League 2 player of the month in April. It’ll be interesting to see if the striker can carry his form into the Eredivisie.

Waalwijk’s general manager Frank van Mosselveld certainly hopes so.

”We are very happy that we have been able to hire Mika,” he told the club’s website.

“With his talent and potential, he is one of the greatest talents of the Arsenal Academy and therefore a real opportunity for us. At RKC next season he will have the opportunity to make minutes at Eredivisie level every week and as a result to develop further.”

Biereth is the fourth Academy prospect to have a loan deal confirmed this week. Omar Rekik, Tyreece John-Jules and Harry Clarke have joined Sparta Rotterdam, Ipswich Town and Stoke City respectively.

Sorry to say I’ve never heard of him or the team. Slow news week.

Once upon a time you hadn’t heard of Saka, ESR, Eddie…

Admittedly I haven’t heard of the club but I’ve definitely heard of Mika.

Dig out some of the U23 highlights from last season. Definitely worth a watch.

Vonnie

He’s an excellent young striker with loads of potential who seems to have flown under the radar with all the attention on Eddie and Flo Balogun. It’s a good opportunity and I hope he does really well there, he’s definitely one to watch for the future.

Its actually Willie* Nelson…

Yeah, yeah, everybody hates “the actually guy”, I get it… but I reckon if we’re bringing up such a tremendous artist and a legendary persona, the least we owe him is to use his name proper.
