The Football Association have confirmed that Arsenal’s WSL home game with Brighton at Meadow Park this coming Friday will go ahead as scheduled. The news comes after their intended opening fixture, away at Manchester City, was postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The men’s team’s game at home to PSV Eindhoven on Thursday night has been postponed due to lack of police resources. That is not a concern for Friday’s sold out game with Brighton since police presence is not required at WSL games.
It will mark the opening game of the WSL season and, at the moment, the game is only scheduled to be shown on the FA Player, which is a free un-geoblocked service (with the exception of Australia) though Arsenal are looking into the possibility of being able to stream the game themselves.
On Arseblog News, we have a lot of content planned to mark the beginning of the new season.
Not that i watch much women’s football but this is good! The sooner football gets back to normal the better. Should never have been postponed in the first place.
Well why do you care then, if you don’t watch much womens football?
Show some respect 😡
I care about the games resuming for everyone after what has been a wrongful and unnecessary suspension. I’ve shown no disrespect to anyone.
One great thing about women’s footie is that people can watch the occasional live game for free, which in these days of falling living standards, is quite a thing. Still, the more it catches on, the more pay-TV will get their greedy mitts into it. So, get it while you can.
If you can get to the games they are affordable (£12 for the NLD at the Emirites) and good fun. The quality of football is high and all fans mingle together. You can take your kids and have no worries.
And even cheaper if you’re an OAP! It’s never too late to start supporting the women’s team. I went to my first AWFC match when I was 70 and haven’t looked back since.
Woohoo! Bring on Brighton!
So looking forward to this!
