Zinchenko needs new football boots and a slaping from Mikel 😉
Maybe he was feeling a bit under the weather, or took a bite of Granit’s lasagne before the game- who knows?
And as for that bloody var and Mike dean robbing us again, when will it stop. 🤓
Been waiting eagerly for this. I love what Jesus brings to this team, He gets an 8 .5 each time, for me, even when he doesn’t score. There’s simply pandemonium breaking loose every time he drives into the box. And his work rate is simply amazing…
I know what you mean. Like most strikers are graded on goals and we obviously need him to bang more in for us, but his play, skill and determination just causes so much panic and pulls players out of position that he allows others to get the goals. And he chips in with some assists. He helps make us tick for sure
He had one tackle that was Cannavaro level defense lol amazing
Today I’m feeling like giving them all an eleven- just like turning up my guitar amp! Rock on,lads!
Zinchenko rating generous. Thought he was uncharacteristically sloppy yesterday. Touch seemed to be off and just didn’t seem as assured on the ball as he usually is. Anyway, 3pts is all that matters & with no wc involvement he should be fresh when we go again in December
Ramsdale gave him a telling off after the second time he carelessly lost the ball in midfield. Seemed to take an age to get rid of the ball at times.
Arteta mentioned multiple players feeling nauseous, perhaps Zinny was one of those 🤷🏻♂️
And Martinelli a bit harsh also I feel. He initiated the build up play for both goals, definitely deserves more than 7.5. Goes abit unappreciated from the highlights but you can see each time he takes 3-4 opposing players out of positions with his direct take ons.
This was a classic time to replace Zinchenko with Tierney, like right after we went up 2-0. KT is better defensively.
You’re late!!
A great win by the lads
Made the wolves look like poodles.
Harsh on poodles to be fair. More like some kind of edentata- possibly a pangolin?
Took your time blogs, 1 too many celebratory bevies last night?
Think he was at a wedding yesterday. He’s better than me — my glances at the phone got me lots of angry stares from the mrs for not mingling with the guests at a party…
Hah I would have had my phone on the table tactically tilted towards me with the match playing and dealt with the consequences later.
See above for who actually did the ratings. And hence the ratings for the latecomers when usually they get zeros.
Billy Done More good posts to fill in for blogs.
Not only Zinchenko, but also Saka had an unusual sloppy night. To be honest, he’s not at his normal level lately, and that’s normal/cyclical, but it’d be simplistic to just point fingers at some bug. That said, the work rate of the whole team was amazing. Gabriel Jesus even outpaced Traore to recover the ball on the first half.
I was thinking saka doesnt look his usual self yesterday. He still had a good game but just not as good as usual. I think it might be because he didnt want to get injured for the world cup.
Could have been one of the nauseous players Mike’s alluded to 🤷🏻♂️
I wonder how many of the performances were lasagne-related? Seems that GX34 wasn’t the only one with the trots, though I find it rather ironic that Mr Indestructible (when it comes to physical injuries) became Mr Glass when it came to a tummy bug. But you do have to think that had an influence on some of the below-par performances, especially errors that put us in danger. The fact that our boys still managed to dominate the game and get the win goes to show how determined and mentally strong our team is.
Coming off is more dignified than Linekering on the turf.
Really love how even though Jesus isn’t scoring he’s consistently getting 8s and above in matches due to all that he brings to the team. Most strikers on that kind of a drought would really be pressing, but he continues to do all the things that make him such an asset to us and is happy for the team when it succeeds.
To win a game away with a bunch of sloppy performances based on the ratings tells you that we have a few more gears to step it up and finish teams early. Jesus was unlucky not to score but his work rate was amazing.
What was wrong with Zinchenkos throw?
Right foot was well off the ground
Does anyone know the logic behind foul throws as an aside?
I can’t see any reason why it’s not just as long as both hands launch the ball and you’re behind the line. Surely any benefit you’re adjudged to take from the ‘foul’ way someone else could just do the same if it were permitted..?
I think this has been part of the laws of the game since the beginning. Some of them clearly relate to a different time. My favourite anachronistic law is when an indirect free kick is awarded inside the penalty area (for a high boot with no contact, for example). Pretty weird.
This is my interprtation – If you have both feet grounded behind the line, you cant jump a lot higher or forward. Where as if only one feet is allowed, you can jump forward and launch from inside the playing area.
Cheers, missed that live and can’t find a clip anywhere
He released ball in front of his head. Foul throw.
10/10 for application and effort for Martinelli for me. His Brazil call up well deserved. His tenacity inspired others to raise their game in both offensive play and defense. The good news at just 21 years he is just going to get better and better.
Agree. I am in awe of his talent and desire
Yet another win even with key players under par – I could get used to this winning lark!
I thought Partey was decent in the second half, particularly given Saliba was not his usual self and Xhaka went off early.
I watched Partey pretty carefully. I thought he ran the show. An occasional stray pass is almost irrelevant to the way he controlled the middle of the park. I thought he was probably our best player, along with Jesus and Odegaard.
Agreed. He had a lot to do without Xhaka there and Zinny clearly a bit off it. Rating is very harsh.
Yep, the bloke doing the ratings must’ve watched the game drunk, or something. Zinchenko and Saka too high, as well. And Ben White gets a 10 for telling off a linesman?
Don’t you just love Gabriel Jesus?
Arteta‘s admission that other players were affected by the same stomach bug that forced Xhaka to leave the pitch is probably explanation enough for some of the suboptimal performances we saw yesterday. The important thing is we got three points and kept a clean sheet even when not playing anything like at our scintillating best. And by the way, Man City LOL.
Even with the World Cup fast approaching for some of our players, you would expect them to be fully professional in that last game – and they were. It may still have been pretty close to touch and go (or run?) for a few more than Xhaka, but they didn’t succumb thank goodness.
idk who billy dunmore is but his ratings are chaotic and unsettling. Usually blogs just rates everyone around a 7 if we win, 6 if we draw and 5 if we lose. Now White has a 10 for yelling at a lino and Partey has a 5 even though we dominated the entire game and I dont understand the criteria and I don’t know whether I’m taking the player ratings too seriously or not seriously enough. billy dunmore you are too exciting for me
Too seriously.
Bizarre ratings….
blogs is a strange match rater for sure, I sometimes feel like we’re watching different games. I thought Saka was ok and Partey was better than a 5, Zinchenko a bit off and Ramsdale didn’t have that much to do.
I didn’t do player ratings for this one!
Ah sorry mate, should have checked
Blogs had a few too many Salibas last night
Blogs didn’t do the ratings this time.
Xhakan, not stirred.
No ratings for Josh DaSilva and Ivan Toney? They were instrumental in giving us some breathing room at the top!
Partey wasn’t that bad, bloody hell. Some misplaced passes but he often does that in thr last 15, and without Xhaka he managed the CM area largely well. 7/10 for me.
Maybe it was just lost in the afterglow of the win, but I don’t remember Partey being anything but solid. Was part of keeping possesion and there were more than a few times he broke up counter attacks and regained possesion. I think 7 or 7.5 is fair.
I thought he was better than that–a completely dominant game.
Ramsdale gets a 100 for winding up the home fans after they cheered anytime we nearly scored. His tongue out at the crowd and laugh was my favourite. Love his character!
Martin Odegaard! What a Captain we have!
Make Zinchenko remain at Colney and practice throw ins 😂
Blogs has a big man-crush on Ben White but Billy has taken it to another level…
billy dumore is an absolute chaos merchant, these ratings are wack!
ey, whatsa-semedo wit you ref? I mean boubacar traore was lucky not to get sent off, and how often u see a foul throw penalized? However….saliba almost made a pen? anyone see it back?..it still felt like a fair ref performance – no penalty, no early bookings, no big bias one way or the other – and in this match it felt important. This was a haaard win.
5 for Partey??!!!
At some point we need to acknowledge that Zinny performance was horrible.
The standard deviation of the ratings are way too higher than Blog’s regular ratings.
