Report: Cedric linked with Fulham switch

Sky Sports are reporting that Fulham are interested in signing Cedric Soares from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

Ahead of what’s bound to be a busy month, most of the focus is on who might come in, but there is room for some outbound business too.

The Portuguese international joined from Southampton in 2020, but this season has been restricted to just 119 minutes of first team action. He has appeared in the Premier League twice as a sub (27′); got 2 minutes of action as a sub in our Europa League win over FC Zurich; and played the full 90 in the 3-1 defeat to Brighton in the EFL Cup.

The form of Ben White and the availability of Takehiro Tomiyasu has pushed the 31 year old down the pecking order, and it looks as if he will have to depart if he wants to play regular first team football.

Meh

Daveo

Ced actually.

RockyRog58

Was rather hoping he’d stay until someone was actually in the box for one of his crosses ?

Frosty

Between his crosses and Ronaldo’s head, Portugal would be in the WC final if he was in the squad.

Sky Sports: Cedric linked with Fulham switch
Leno: Noooooooooooooo……

Prakhar

LeNOOOOOO

Prakhar

We can buy a striker, a winger and a midfielder from the money we will get from the Cedric deal.

TeeCee

Hell, we might even be able to push the boat out and get a whole Subbuteo set.

Gunner

😂😂😂

Lolerinho

I heard Dagenham & Redbridge’s got a pacey left winger, at least for the first yard, he has no right foot though!

Badaab

fulham do have a growing collection of our cast offs, but also they have a big guy who likes to head crosses so, it makes entirely too much sense to be true

Makes sense for all parties, even if it’s a free transfer.

Though wouldn’t be surprised if Fulham just take him on loan.

£75k a week is extremely poor value for a third choice right-back. That should more than cover Mudryk’s wages.

Arteta, Edu, Lewis have done incredible work on averaging down the squad’s salary.

COYG1001

Loan would be better. Keeps him from crossing to a strong striker when they play us. A totally Chelsea calculation.

Magneto

Given the tendency for Tomiyasu, Tierney & Zinchenko to get injured, I would keep Soares as additional fullback cover until the end of the season, then review the situation.

Walter White

This does make sense.

Jimboslice

When keeping your third choice RB makes sense. The life of a gooner ey

Naked Cygan

I was thinking the same. We have too many injury prone players at the back.

Oddo

He’s too expensive for a third choice player.

Arsene’s Bobble Head

Agree. A youngster could fill that 3rd back role and get valuable game time if necessary. Cedric tying up too many wages.

LeProf

If we get a fee for him then great business.
If we get rid of his 75k wages on a free then it’s okay business.

Deels

Does anyone follow the youth team closely? How close to being prem ready is Brook Norton Cuffy?

YoungGun

Still needs another season or even two of loans. If one could be with a premier league club or league 1 would be great. For now I’m getting too much Wan Bissaka Vibes from him.

Jackie's Willy

Good deal for Fulham. All those aimless crosses at Arsenal now aimed at Mitrovic.

Goals.

Joakimhu

No poo-meter, hope he is off to new adventuers

djourou's nutmeg

why would we let go a veteran backup player who can fill several positions and knows the squads dynamic for a few -if any- pounds? given the thin squad we have, i only see us losing if this happens. what’s good for us in this? 1 million pounds saved in wages? no thank you i rather have a footballer if im trynna win the league

Arsene’s Bobble Head

Cedric is not going to win us the league.

djourou's nutmeg

and the £200 they’re gonna give us for his loan is? my point is not that we should keep him cause he’s good, it’s that there’s no reason for us to let him go

Qwaliteee

Make it happen Arsenal.

And a Merry Christmas to Fulham.

M’whahahaaaa.

Mathew Lionnet

Switching for Willian?? The second coming!

Emi Rates

I’d rather shit in my hand than see that professional retiree back at our club.

Qwaliteee

Don’t.

Just don’t.

Even as a joke.

Don’t fucking go there.

Merlin’s Panini

Would be fine with this. He’s always tried his best, isn’t a terrible player but for the money we pay him I’d rather see someone younger given a shot. We even still have AMN on our books whose loan thus far hasn’t really done anything for his reputation and might be better off being recalled and accepting he’s a better right back than a central midfielder or winger. Although I’m assuming that ship has well and truly sailed.
