Oleksandr Zinchenko has made a real contribution to Arsenal this season, but in fits and starts. He’s been in and out of the side through injury, and it’s been far from ideal for the Ukraine international.
He didn’t feature in the Gunners 3-0 win over Lyon last week, but the 25 year says he’s almost fit and ready go again.
Speaking from the Dubai training camp, Zinchenko also said spending time on the sidelines is the most difficult thing for any footballer, but hopes he can put these recent struggles behind him quickly.
“You know, I have a little muscle tightness, but I’m nearly there, so don’t worry about this,” he said.
“Obviously I’m also working hard to get my fitness back and to be with the team as quickly as I can.
“It’s the worst feeling to be fair … for every footballer to be out of the team. And yeah, in the last couple of months, I was struggling a lot but I hope everything is in the past already.
“And now, I’m fully focused and so excited for the rest of the season.”
He also had words of support for his former Man City teammate, Gabriel Jesus, who underwent knee surgery last week.
“I said already that we are all behind him,” he said. “We are all supporting him. Of course it’s a big miss for our team, and the impact what he’s doing for the club is amazing.
“I know him for a while – he’s a big warrior and I’m 100% sure that he’ll be back much, much stronger.”
Goodness we need his quality and flexibility back asap
I didn’t see the : when I read the headline and nearly had a stroke.
The power of a punctuation mark you would say.😀
