Jordan Nobbs to leave Arsenal, Arseblog News understands

Arseblog News, in a joint story with Rich Laverty, understands that Jordan Nobbs will leave Arsenal this month on a permanent deal for another WSL club, with an announcement expected shortly.

Nobbs joined the club in 2010 making over 250 appearances, winning three WSL titles, four FA Cups and five Conti Cups in the process. However, Nobbs has struggled for minutes since the appointment of Jonas Eidevall in the summer of 2021.

Jordan is currently on the fringes of the England squad and is looking for game time ahead of this summer’s World Cup, having missed the 2019 World Cup and Euro 2022 through injury, while also being omitted from the Team GB squad for the 2021 Olympics.

Nobbs’ Arsenal contract was due to expire at the end of this season and with Arsenal bringing in at least three outfield players in January, a move was in the interests of all parties. Jordan leaves as a bona fide club legend.

update: subsequently confirmed that Jordan has joined Aston Villa.

We must be a strong side if she is leaving due to the tough competition she faces.

Good luck to her, Arsenal legend!

C.B.

She’s gone to Villa, it’s been announced.

Heavenly Chapecoense

Miedema on the bench, Nobbs leaving, huh. But I never believed in Arteta’s process until I saw it.

Bill Hall

Nooooooo
That has really passed me off

Orion

Sad to see her go, but understand why she feels the need to do so. Wish her well.

Peter Story Teller

She has been a top player for the Gunners and a very loyal servant. I’m sure she could have had her pick of many WSL clubs and perhaps some European ones too but she decided to stick with us until she really needs to showcase her ability to get selected for the World Cup. Gutted that she has to go elsewhere to do this but fully understand what it would mean to her given the number of times injury has cost her a place in a major tournament squad. Perhaps if she wins a World Cup medal she can retire… Read more »

The voice of common sense as always, Peter!

GoonerSuz

Completely agree. Jordan needs the game time. It’s not easy trying to keep top players happy when they’re always on the bench. Personally feel this is something Emma Hayes does better I.e “watering the flowers”. It’s been so tough for Jordan and Mana this season.

Salvador Berzunza

not really agree about Emma because Bethany England leaves Chelsky looking for playing time.

Kennington Gunner

Hear hear. Great player, great servant and great ambassador for the club.
Have felt sad for her not being able to showcase her skills for far too long due to injury, competition and selection decisions.
Best of luck Jordan!

kazoo

She’s signed with Aston Villa.

Wolsty

Good Luck Jordan..!!
Injuries haven’t helped her recently, so assume Eidevall looking for more strength, depth and younger legs.
Hope she does well at Villa and gets more game time.

trugun

Can’t blame her, Eidevall has never been a fan. Wonder what happens with players they reportedly want to bring in now we are down to six home grown players. Good luck Jordan you are a credit to the club.

Salvador Berzunza

Maybe Anna Patten comeback.

Death by 300,000 Passes

Nooooo!!!

Dan

100% gutted but 100% understand.

Wishing her all the best – we will miss her so much.

Torterrier

This news sucks. Good luck Jordan, you’ll be missed.

onenil

I may have been slow off the mark, but she was one of the first female players who forced me to sit up and take notice. A great talent, ahead of the still rising tide in the women’s game.
Always an Arsenal legend. Good luck for the future, Jordan.

Medium Mozart

Legend!

All the best for the future, Jordan.

Fun Gunner

I’m happy for her, she will shine at Villa. Her career over the last 5 years has been a catalogue of missed opportunities, never through any fault of her own.
I hope you make the England squad, Jordan, and thanks for all the wonderful memories.

Zoe Waterfield

Absolutely gutted 😥

Meep meep

Feel like we’re just “loaning” her to Villa, she’ll come home eventually, she wants to coach & who better to have at the club 🙂
