Arsenal Women goalkeeper Fran Stenson joined Sheffield United on loan on transfer deadline day. The 21-year-old joined the Gunners from Manchester City in the summer of 2019 but has only played one game for the club.
She previously had loan spells at Blackburn Rovers, Brighton and Birmingham City. She was recalled from her loan at Birmingham earlier this month due to a lack of playing time.
Stenson will now join the Blades for the second half of the season. Arsenal already have Manu Zinsberger, Sabrina D’Angelo and Kaylan Marckese in their squad so another loan deal always seemed likely.

Hasn’t Fran’s development been restricted by a succession of hand ligament injuries requiring surgery?
Assuming this is now behind her let’s hope she can now go forward and achieve her potential. She is still only 21 after all.
I thought the thumb trouble was behind her but maybe not.
If her lack of matches is down to injury then there seems little point in recalling her just to send her out on loan to another club. My presumption is that successfully loaning a player suggests that they are fit to play?
The two keepers I mentioned are 23 and 22 respectively and they are getting regular games and knocking on Mary Earps door for England games so let’s hope Fran can start to shine and get mentioned in similar circles.
Best of luck at Sheffield United, Fran Stenson! Hope to see you in Arsenal colours one of these days.
