VAMOOOOOSSS
Has a team ever needed a backup, backup keeper?
It must’ve happened. But I’d love to see that bench position go to Salah-Eddine, Cirjan or Cozier-Duberry.
Saka and Martinelli’s presence scare me. We simply can’t lose either. Here’s hoping we establish a decent lead and they only play 60mins and can be rested next Thursday.
Let’s go!!!
COYG!
Chelsea once lost Cech and then Cudicini to serious head injuries in the same match, and had to go with Terry in goal
I think is the same rule as Euro 2020. You need to have two keepers on the bench, not a choice
correct, 2 spaces are held for keepers
we had three or four injured goalkeepers in 2011-12 which meant jens lehmann had to come out of retirement to give us a hand. I’m sure you remember
I would love us to win the EL… just to see more of our second tier players.
In the mean time I would love also to win the EPL
Let’s win both.
I think we’ve got a very good chance. There are not many teams left that can trouble us (at least on paper) but it would require careful squad management, especially with injuries springing up here and there
come on you gunners! get in nelson. I BELIEVE IN YOUUUUUUU
hopefully the front 3 can do the job with 20 mins of ESR at the end. squad is looking pretty light in terms of attacking subs!
Unnecessarily strong? It’s a 1st leg.. Risking some injuries, Esp up front where we are already light
Given the players available I’m not sure what more he could have done? Presumably ESR isn’t ready to play from the start. Holding & Tomi maybe?
Yeah. Tomi is the obvious miss. Outside of that can’t really see what more Arteta could have done. Starting both Holding and Kiwior would be a big risk. So it was always one or the other. Hopefully ESR gets some minutes in the second half.
To clarify, my comment is around the whole situation. We play the EL as its a route into the CL but tbh we have that in the bag via the premier league so I don’t care if we get knocked out of the EL if it means our PL team is not compromised
Losing any competitive match breaks winning momentum…And it’s a trophy that’s there to be won, so why should we approach it as casually and complacently as you suggest? We are in it to win it!🏆🏆
It’s still Sporting away, not some minnows. Lose this and you have to play your first 11 at home under pressure. Get a decent result tonight and mix it again in the home match. Plus yeah, not much else we could’ve changed. ESR and Tomi potentially but then again we’re not sure if they are 100% or not. It’s fine, they will start at home.
Djien Dobry Kiwior! Hope it’s a clean sheet debut!
Is Tomi injured or something? Ben White is currently the right back on form and should have been rested for Fulham. Good to see Kiwi, Turner and Nelson start.
We should have signed Andy Carroll in January for nights like this when the injuries pile up.
An interesting bench. A little surprised Holding and Tomi aren’t starting. The only senior level attacking player is ESR. And I don’t think that’s by choice. Crossing fingers that Saka and Martinelli can stay healthy.
I expected Tomiyasu for White, and one of Saka/Martinelli tò be rested. Beyond that, I don’t see much else Arteta could do. This line up, on paper, should make the second leg easier.
No Odegaad?
A bit surprised he’s not on the bench. Vieira, White, Saka ought to work pretty well though.
Ode and KT have some kind of bug.
We’re risking Saka from the start?
I hope that we lead 3-0 at half time, so that Arteta can finally give debut to Matt Smith (who has won more trophies than Harry Kane).
With the lineup, I would be more than happy with 1 goal win or even a draw.
Kiwior ducked on their goal from corner
Where’s Tierney?
Unwell
