Mikel Arteta and Edu were both in attendance when Arsenal Women overturned a 1-0 deficit to eliminate Bayern Munich from the Women’s Champions League and qualify for the semi-finals for the first time in ten years.
In his pre-Leeds press conference, Arteta was asked about his impressions of the occasion, “It was beautiful, it was great to have the experience to live it there and the crowd that we had in the game, especially the way they played, in the first half it was a real joy to watch.
“It is a big achievement, it hasn’t happened for many, many years at the club and we have to catch them up. This is the beauty of it, getting things inside the club that are inspiring for each other and can make us closer and better.”
When quizzed on Frida Maanum’s goal, an outrageous strike from the edge of the box after some neat one-touch football, Arteta said, “Beautiful. The moment the ball left her feet we knew it was going in. It is just a beautiful finish.”
This goal has been viewed by 2.6m people overnight.
More than 21,000 tickets were sold. Only 5,000 were purchased in last season’s QF with Wolfsburg.
Something really special is happening. https://t.co/C5jcbhSkeY

Jonas Eidevall revealed after the game on Wednesday night that Edu had sent him a congratulatory message. “They talk a lot in Arsenal about acting with class but when you are inside the organisation you really understand the meaning of those words.
“It is not just something that is written on a wall. It is something ingrained in top management and it spreads down.” Asked about Mikel Arteta’s comments in his Friday press conference, Eidevall remained effusive about the culture the club is creating at the moment.
“When we talk about Arsenal class, when you are working in the organisation you understand these are actions, not just words. It feels like you are working in one club. That is the environment and we are all very thankful to be in that and to be inspired by all the great players and coaches inside these buildings.”
Arsenal Women play at home to Manchester City at 12.30pm on Sunday, we will have all the usual build up and reaction to that game on Arseblog News as usual. We also have an exclusive interview with Brazilian defender Rafaelle that was published on Friday morning.

We are Culture Club.
From me seeing as a Boy, (Charlie) George scoring to win the FA Cup Final and then winning the double at Sp*rs ground, we have always been class.
Man, it would be absolutely crazy if we win the PL and the WSL/CL and have the celebration parade together. Arsenal, make it happen!
Now we need to add another $10,000 to their salary.
