According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal have lined up Monaco for a midweek Emirates Cup friendly ahead of the Community Shield on 6 August.
Simon Collings writes that the Gunners will invite the Ligue 1 side to London for a showdown on Wednesday, 2nd August – the fifth of six pre-season friendlies.
The Emirates Cup used to be a four-team affair but has existed in a slimmed-down form since the Covid-19 pandemic.

our pre season be looking more packed and tougher than our actual season!
The community shield will be interesting. It could act as a marker for the progress made over the summer. Alternatively it could also be incredibly misleading given Liverpool beat City 3-1 in the last one and some people were kidding themselves that Darwin Nunez was a better buy than Haaland.
One time, when I was 12, I was running 100m against this guy Ollie Laidlaw (who was a gooner actually). The winner of the race was able to represent the school at sprinting. Before we did the official sprint, Ollie suggested we have a practice run.
In the practice Ollie was slow and I easily beat him. He said “Ah mate, you’re way faster than me”. But when we did the actual race he absolutely destroyed me. Turns out, he was playing Jedi mind tricks with me all along.
I think this is what City do in the Community Shield.
Or, hopefully, what we are now doing to them…..
If our players are real winners (or want to be), they should turn this community shield into war.
Absolutely.
It’s a great opportunity for Mikel to start fucking with Pep’s mind, the way Wenger used to mess with Fergie.
Especially if we have these proposed new signings on board.
COYG
Monaco… That makes it the Arsene Wenger Cup
