Arsenal’s attacking midfielder Frida Maanum is one of six nominees for the PFA WSL Player of the Season for 2022-23. Maanum scored nine goals in the WSL last season and was Arsenal’s top scorer.
The Norwegian also produced four assists in a breakout season that saw her take on the attacking midfield role in the absence of the injured Vivianne Miedema.
Frida is up against her compatriot Guro Reiten (Chelsea), Sam Kerr (Chelsea), Bunny Shaw (Manchester City), Rachel Daly (Aston Villa) and Ona Batlle (Manchester United- now departed for Barcelona). The winner will be announced on Tuesday 29 August.

I love her but it has to be Daly or Reiten.
it could realistically be any one of them, but if you look on the impact that one player had, Maanum is a strong choice. Without her, Arsenal would not have had anywhere near the season they had. All the other nominees basically played one or two- Reiten- positions throughout the season for their clubs. Either due to Arsenal’s injury crisis or Maanum’s quality, Frida was deployed all over the pitch as an attacking midfielder, a holding midfielder, a 10 and I even recall her ending a game as our center forward. Some other player will win it, but Maanum clearly deserves the title.
