Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli have been recalled to the Brazil squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Peru.
Jesus hasn’t featured for his country since the group stages of the World Cup in December. He was substituted in the second half of a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in early December and later discovered he required surgery on a knee injury. He’s a late addition to Fernando Diniz’s squad after Manchester United’s Antony was dropped following assault claims by a former girlfriend.
Gabriel Magalhaes missed out on the Qatar campaign altogether with technical director Juninho explaining later that the defender’s absence was,in part, due to his earlier decision to turn down an international call-up to stay with his partner who was expecting their first child.
Martinelli’s inclusion is less of a surprise. He impressed at the World Cup but was rested for a match against Morocco in March and was injured when friendlies against Guinea and Senegal took place in June.
We wouldn’t be surprised if club photographers Stuart MacFarlane and David Price catch tumbleweed rolling across the pitches at London Colney this week. In total, Arsenal have 28 players called up for international duty; 17 from the first team and 11 from the academy.

Ben White – England naughty step
Ben White?! For some reason not considered good enough by Gareth.
He wouldn’t even get into the manure defence according to Ferdinand so that’s fair enough.
Gareth is an imbecile
He is a horse
We don’t really know what was said during the World Cup. I can’t see him getting selected under this message. Ben doesn’t seem too bothered and as an Arsenal fan it is a win.
Gareth doesn’t like how he looks at Harry Maguire
Looks quite personal to me. Perhaps he shagged Gareth’s missus?
If that were true, we would have to sell him to Chelsea.
Southgate’s level is Harry Maguire. So, go figure.
Honestly, let that sink in, Harry Dunne, I mean Mcguire over Ben white. Seriously. Good news for us though!
😂😂not good…like cedric soares….hilarious!
Nah.. a classless joke, one I didn’t expect from Arseblog about one of our own.
The amount of jokes about Cedric here in comments is unbelievable. He has done nothing wrong and this whole behaviour is unacceptable to me.
Sorry Ced, I never meant to hurt you.
Southgate is a boring twat.
Only a matter of time before the absolute zed is replaced.
Was hoping Jesus was going to be spared this considering he’s barely played since surgery, but Antony had to go fuck that one up for us too
I was wondering if I could bet on him getting injured on Brazil duty and being out for 3 months. You know….to offset the inevitable heartache!
Please comeback healthy y’all!
Antony and potatoe head Fernandez have the most punchable faces on the planet.
Dog training! That’s a bit disrespectful.
Really, Gabriel missed out on the World Cup bcos he chose to stay with his about to give birth partner rather than fly to the other side of the world for a friendly??..laughable decision. Imagine actually admitting to that in public
And this coming from a former player.
That’s bureaucrats for you- they live in a world of their own.
I understand why Gabriel would not want to make a big stink about it–he wants to play for Brazil in the future–but it really is a disgraceful decision that deserves a lot more attention.
If he keeps this up Vieira might just get a call up to the senior Portugal squad at some point this season…
Then he would come back to Arsenal and start diving.
They are the diving force of world football.
Sure he’d be happy to stay as far away as possible from a certain chinchilla-faced human who moans for a living
Dog training🤣
Unless Jesus plays, it will be a pointless trip halfway around the world while he is just coming back.
I want Jesus to play for Brazil but he just got back from injury and is travelling half way across the world to play (or not play) pointless friendlies all because the repugnant rat face at united might be a woman beater and as unpleasant off the field as he is on it.
Looks like world cup qualifiers so fair play to them. They had initially omitted him
Reiss Nelson- dog Training. That is funny. Thanks Blogs, I needed that this morning.
Looool now that I understand it.
Love the breakdown. Always wondering who is not select. Thanks!
Brazil 3 Bromley 2
If I am not mistaken, we never had a list of players called up for international duty this long perhaps we only did around 2004. It shows the increasing strength of the team.
The odd one to me is Jorginho. Yes, he’s gotten little playing time but he doesn’t look rusty to me. He was certainly Italy’s most important player when they won the Euros. Maybe a youth policy with a new coach.
“Nicolas Pepe – who knows” made me chuckle.
Nobody knows really, not even his coach at Cote D’viore.
Poor old Antonius 😢
My thoughts and prayers are with them as they go to answer the call of their Fatherland. Please don’t get injured, please. Jesus, God be with you.
Great that we have so many players heading out (shows how strong a group we have), but boy I hate these international breaks especially early in the season when the risk of injuries (esp muscular ones) is pretty high.
