Although Arsenal U17s weren’t able to progress beyond the group stages at the recent Flamengo Adidas Cup in Brazil there were still some positives to take from proceedings including the performances of Alex Marciniak.
A Welsh youth international who can play as a creative midfielder or out wide, Marciniak was one of Arsenal’s standout performers at the tournament and he managed to get on the scoresheet in the 3-2 defeat to Atletico Nacional.
Marciniak also created several openings for his team-mates at the tournament and he has shown signs that he can link up effectively with prolific striker Chido Obi-Martin.
In pre-season Marciniak featured for Arsenal U18s against Sutton United and he will be hoping to make his competitive debut at that level before the conclusion of the campaign.
It is anticipated that Marciniak could be part of Arsenal’s scholarship intake next season and if that proves to be the case then he could well be one of the standout players in that group.
The prospect has a good appreciation of space, while his close control is also of a high standard, which means he is certainly a player to keep an eye on.
