Arsenal U21s and U18s were both in action over the past couple of days, with the teams having mixed results.
On Friday night the U21s took on Wolverhampton Wanderers away but ended up suffering a 2-1 defeat.
Assistant coach Max Porter took charge of the team in the absence of Mehmet Ali, who was absent due to illness.
Ethan Nwaneri, who has produced some outstanding performances for Arsenal at various youth levels this season, managed to get on the scoresheet but the young Gunners still ended up being beaten.
Yesterday the U18s returned to winning ways with a 4-0 success away to Leicester City.
It was important for Jack Wilshere’s side to respond following their 7-1 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup and they managed to bounce back in impressive style.
Michal Rosiak opened the scoring before Osman Kamara scored a brace, which included a penalty. An own goal from Tommy Neale added to Arsenal’s lead.
The victory will serve to boost Arsenal’s confidence going into their eagerly-anticipated encounter away to Manchester United next weekend in the knockout stages of the Premier League Cup.
Meanwhile, striker Mason Cotcher, who was on trial at Arsenal earlier in the season, is currently on trial at United.
