Arsenal goalkeeper Manu Zinsberger has signed a new contract with the club. The Austrian, who joined from Bayern Munich in 2019, signed a new 2+1 deal in 2021.
The additional year on that deal was triggered last March with her current terms set to expire in the summer. The club and the player have decided to extend terms.
Zinsberger told Arsenal.com, “I’m so happy to have signed a new contract with this club. I’m so motivated to continue to develop myself as a goalkeeper but also grow as a person – and with the progression that’s taken place here on and off the pitch since I joined, I know this is the right place for me to do that. When I step out onto the pitch, hearing the crowd cheering us on, it’s a feeling I can’t describe. The passion our supporters bring lifts us up and together we can go so far.”
Head Coach Jonas Eidevall said: “Manu is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has been a consistently high performer in this team throughout my time here. She deserves this new contract and I know she shares the ambitions we have here. We want to compete for every title we can and Manu will play a big role in us achieving that.”
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “We’re delighted to have agreed a new contract with Manu to continue her journey here at Arsenal. Manu has been such an important part of this team since joining us in 2019, delivering brilliant performances and showing true passion on the pitch. Congratulations, Manu!”
Somewhere in Manchester, Mary just installed Duolingo and is frantically learning French.

I have to say I am surprised! What with her personal situation and the club’s exploration of new GK possibilities, I would have bet my house on Manu Zinsberger leaving this summer. However, if she has resolved her domestic arrangements (partner moving to London, maybe?) AND the club have looked around and not found anyone who is both available and better, then it makes sense for Zinsberger to stay somewhere that she feels at home and for the club to secure her services for a few years so that her contract retains value. Me too! Thought she wanted to go home but as you say maybe they have found a way to bring her other half to London.
I have to admit I’ve only watched Arsenal women since 2019 and I’ve never been fully convinced about Manu. Would have loved to have seem Earps at the Emirates
The whole Zinsburger leaving this summer and Earp’s the obvious choice coming in seems to have mostly been driven online. The club may have sniffed around a new keeper last summer but it seems through choice/transfer funds/wage structure they have gone cold on Earp’s a long while ago and gone with Zinsburger. I don’t think this means Zinsburger is number one, the club I feel will need an upgrade and may still bring in someone this summer, D’Angelo has struggled for minutes. Could we see another Ramsdale contract extension then a pivot for a new keeper months later.
All the speculation regarding Mary Earps moving to Arsenal must have affected Manu’s performances. Her play will now improve if the “threat” of Earps is gone.
I am glad about this as she is preferable to the gobby Earps in my view.

When the press say that X player is on £XXXXX per week do they know anything or are these wide of the mark guesses.
The scum Sun and Sky freely say players earn this and that like the player told them and people believe it, sadly. Do you have any idea from one player to next what they earn?
