Leah Williamson and Amanda Ilestedt out of international duty, Katie Reid recalled from loan

Leah Williamson has had to withdraw from the England squad for friendlies against Austria and Italy in Marbella due to a hamstring injury.

It was Williamson’s first call up since rupturing her ACL last April but she was forced to miss Saturday’s 3-1 win over Manchester United at the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Amanda Ilestedt, who has missed Arsenal’s last three games with illness, has withdrawn from the Sweden squad for their friendlies against Bosnia Herzegovina.

Young centre-half Katie Reid has been recalled from her dual registration loan at Watford and was on the bench on Saturday with Jen Beattie having departed for Bay FC, Ilestedt ill and no public clarity on when she might return and Teyah Goldie still not ready to return from rupturing her ACL last June.

Meanwhile Manu Zinsberger will play for Austria against England and Denmark, Lotte Wubben-Moy, Beth Mead and Alessia Russo join the England squad in Marbella for friendlies against Austria and Italy. Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley and Kyra Cooney-Cross play a double header against Uzbekistan in Tashkent.

Vivianne Miedema and Victoria Pelova join up with Netherlands for their UEFA Nations League game against Spain, for whom Laia Codina will also play. Frida Maanum is part of the Norway squad for a double header against Croatia, Lia Walti captains Switzerland for their double header against Poland, Sabrina D’Angelo and Cloe Lacasse are with Canada and Emily Fox with the USA for the Gold Cup.

Katie McCabe captains Ireland for games against Italy and Wales, Stina Blackstenius joins the Sweden squad for that double header against Bosnia Herzegovina but Lina Hurtig is out with injury. Vivienne Lia joins up with England U19s after making her full club debut against LCL last week.

That’s everybody who’s fit except Kim Little (retired) and two GKs.
Just our luck that Ilestedt and Williamson have to be sidelined just as Beattie moved on.
I have a lot of faith in Katie Reid. I really hope the Ginger Giant gets some game time.

Depth of the bench Vs S****S will be interesting. Dependent on if anyone has recovered

Katie Reid withdrawn from U19.
No mention of Michelle Agyemang contract now she’s turned 18.

pahtotheworld

maybe the club don’t see it as new news as it was announced in June last year that she had committed to signing at 18

Fun Gunner

Just seen that both Miedema and Pelova missed training with the Neths yesterday.

Viv played the first half for the Neths in the Nations League match v Spain, but Pelova definitely has an injury. 🙁
It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I thought Russo did a great job as a number 9 – excellent hold-up play and well timed runs into the box, linked up with other players (especially Beth) and crucially stayed high much of the time. And two goals. So maybe…

Hope the Dutch defeat the Germans on Wednesday, although they must be missing Jill Roord. I reckon Viv may well star in this crucial Olympic qualifying game.
