Arsenal Women assistant coach Renee Slegers has extended her contract with Arsenal Women for another two years, according to her agency on Instagram.
The Dutchwoman, who played briefly in the Arsenal academy as a player, joined the club last summer having taken over Jonas Eidevall’s previous position as Rosengard manager. She left the Swedish club in early 2023 after leading them to back-to-back league titles and Arsenal appointed her to their coaching staff following the departure of Lydia Bedford to Brentford’s U18s side.
Slegers has a role in individual player development at Arsenal and also stays in close contact with the club analysts on matchdays, relaying messages between the analysts, Jonas Eidevall and fellow assistant coach Aaron D’Antino. The renewal of Slegers’ contract follows on from the departure of setpiece coach Patrick Winqvist this week.
Good news. Still can’t believe Viv is leaving, we need to address that gap asap.
Excellent. LWM, women’s POTS, has paid tribute to Slegers’ role in helping her reach the levels she has attained over the last season. From what you see on matchdays, Slegers seems to have great relationships with the players. And (irrelevant, I know) I took an instant liking to her.
Congratulations, Renee Slegers, looking forward to another couple of years at least.
An endorsement from Lotte is very telling. Hopefully Renee will be able to help other players develop in the same way. A bit of calm amongst the current coaching turbulence is welcome!
The Coach of VfL Wolfsburg Women did not renew his contract and will stay until the 24/25 season, this guy is a winner of trophies, but we have Jonas getting in the way
There is a reason his contract isn’t being renewed. I think if you ask Wolfsburg fans about him you wouldn’t get many glowing recommendations.
If you’re saying that, I believe you. I found out that he didn’t want to renew.
I don’t know how, but I’ve not noticed Renee before, despite going to most home matches. I shall definitely look out for her contributions.
