Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy has been nominated for the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Season. The 25-year-old has enjoyed a stellar season for Arsenal, where she is the favourite to scoop the club’s player of the season award.
With Leah Williamson unavailable until January due to an ACL injury, Rafaelle having departed for Orlando Pride last summer and with Amanda Ilestedt and Laia Codina joining the club last summer, Wubben-Moy has taken on a very senior role in the Gunners defence this season.

I haven’t watched close to all their games, but she’s looked dominant in every game I’ve seen her in this season
What I like about Lotte is that she is one of those players that loves the ball. This season she has reduced the number of unforced errors considerably, and I think she has become a great player. By which I mean, player, not simply a defender.
She has improved immeasurably this season. Being asked to fill Leah’s boots for the best part of the season and the wheels could have come off her wagon but she rose to the challenge and she can now be trusted to control the backline whoever is alongside her.
LWM is beginning to remind me of a certain Mr Adams the ex-England captain. Who knows, one day!
She looks a bit like him as well, don’t you think? She could be his granddaughter.
You might think that I couldn’t possibly comment!😀
😆 Her “football grandfather”.
For the WSL player of the year LWM is the perfect candidate given the way she has risen to the defensive challenge for club and country that can only be described as extraordinary. She reads the game, is calm and her positional sense is among the best.
For the AWFC player of the year, however, I have to go with Alessia Russo who I believe has been magnificent in her first season, scoring and making goals, running her socks off, working hard for the team. She is simply a star.
Lotte has had a sensational season, basically deputising brilliantly for England Captain Leah, which is quite a task to achieve. It’s very true to say Alessia’s star has shone brightly in her debut season as a Gunner – her off the ball positioning & front running have been pure class. Vicky Pelova deserves a special mention too, with her dribbling skills, forward thinking play & ability to hold on to the ball – she’s been superb in 2023/24. My AWFC Player of the Year is our magnificent Captain Kim Little, who is frankly at a higher level than any other… Read more »
Can’t disagree with any of that. I had thought that with a few more games Emily Fox may well have been on such a list, another addition that has made a significant mark.
I missed her in the game against Everton, it’s that saying “attack wins games, defense wins titles” I’ve been following her for a while now, I hope she grows and shines even more next season.
