Report: Smith Rowe set for £34 million exit

According to various reports, Arsenal have agreed to Fulham’s £34 million offer for Emile Smith Rowe.

The Cottagers will pay a set fee of £27 million plus another £7 million in various add-ons.

The England international, 24, is currently part of Arsenal’s US Tour squad but is expected to return to London in the coming days to complete his medical. He’ll then head to Portugal where Marco Silva’s team are partaking in a pre-season training camp.

Fulham’s game with Benfica at the Estadio Algarve may come too soon for a debut but with a clash against Sevilla scheduled at the same arena for next Monday, Smith Rowe won’t have to wait too long to wear his new club’s colours.

The deal taking Smith Rowe to west London will rank him among the most expensive departures in Arsenal’s history. He’ll also become Fulham’s record signing.

truly one of your best

Hahaha thanks for this

Easy to love ESR and rarely do we have players whom we all wholeheartedly support regardless of form. Wish him the very best and hope he can stay fit and enjoy reaching his potential. And hopefully we can reinvent this into an exciting, excellent signing for us!

Blackpool Albert

He will come good for Fulham.

David C

I just really hope the lad stays healthy! Saved Arteta a little with some great performances a few seasons ago.

Best of luck ESR…except against Arsenal 🙂

truj

And we are going to regret it.

Dr. Gooner

Even if he stays fit and starts smashing it for Fulham it’s still the right move to let him go. He needs to play every week to grow and he simply wouldn’t at Arsenal. No good for anyone. Not to mention Fulham could platform him (design tactics/roles for players around him to suit him) in ways we would not because we have better players.

Ebo

I feel like there’s a parallel universe where things work out for him at Arsenal and he becomes one or our stalwart midfielders for many years… Pity it’s not this one.
Emile Smith go in peace ✌️

Chrispy

Depressing but hope he stays fit, plays every game and enjoys his football.

Joker

Best of luck Emile and thank you for helping us turn things around when times were darkest. You brought us joy. You will be missed.

SEGooner77

I think it’s great for the club (good sale price at last); I think it’s great for ESR, as he’ll get to play and be a main man…there’s a bit of me that thinks this will ramp the pressure on Vieira as I for one know which of these two I’d rather we’d have kept (though I know that the viable market was only there for ESR).

Hope it’s the best outcome for all involved #coyg

Top Bins

Who takes the 10? Does MØ vacate the 8 and take the 10, leaving the 8 for the mystical left 8 we’re looking to sign? Or someone else already in the squad?

Redbaron

Hope we have a buy back and/or sell on clause coz I have a feeling he will shrug off form & fitness issue to break out at Craven Cottage

Santi's Phonebox

Prefer a buy back clause.

Red Fred

Hoping I can be successful in the Fulham ballot. He is gonna get an amazing welcome back.

sakatatties

The Smith, thanks.

Thankyou22

Hope he gets a rocking reception when he visits the Emirates

Naija+soccer

he’s returning to the Arsenal in a couple years after putting in performances that the big clubs find irresponsible. He won’t go to the United, Spurs or Liverpool, Arsenal won’t allow it.

Having said that, it’s harder to turn down City or Chelsea if they come in for in a couple years

Drew

I don’t think I’ve been this gutted about a transfer since Merse left. I know it makes sense for club and player, but damn I loved watching ESR play.

Naija+soccer

Arteta will soon realize what a player he had when Smith Rowe goes to Fulham and start getting compared to Stephen Gerard by the media/press.

Savage

There aren’t many players who will go with as much goodwill from Arsenal fans. Will get a rousing reception when he returns to the Emirates.

Main hope is that he consistently works with a manager who loves him – we’ve seen with Lokonga and Tavares how difficult it can be when managers change and you’re in and out of the team.

ObiKing

A hard pill to swallow, but it is the best decision for all parties involved.

It is a shame. Sad times.

All the best, Bro❤️

Ödegårds Magnifika Fot

This is some 4D chess play. Hopefully Fulham will manage to steal some pts from City, with several ex-Arsenal players in their squad they ought to be extra fired up. Not that it helped particularly last season but let’s be positive!

DB10

More like 2d chess. We took 1 point from them

Gonzo

I wonder what the Add ons are?
I was hoping for a flat 35 mil to be honest. If he hits any sort of form he is a guaranteed 10 goals a season plus the rest.

Arsenio

I won’t mind if he gets a consolation goal in a 5-1 win against Fulham. Stay fit!

Zet

Happy for him. Likewise for Nelson, you guys are mid 20s and you have to play regularly. Arteta is not going to give you the chance.

Merlin’s Panini

Gutted he’s going tbh, but it’s for his own good. He can fulfil his potential. Hopefully he does and we have the opportunity to bring him back at the right time because he’s one hell of a player.
Best of luck to him

Goonerjag

He will always get a huge welcome when he comes home!

Jimster

Blimey, I’m still getting over Charlie George going to Derby, always feels sad when they sell one of your favourite players😥 going to a decent club at least👍
