Confirmed: Norton-Cuffy joins Genoa

Genoa have confirmed the permanent signing of Brooke Norton-Cuffy.

Arsenal will net an initial fee of €2 million for the England under-21 international plus a further €2 million in add-ons depending on how he fares in Italy. It’s reported we’ve also negotiated a sell-on clause.

Norton-Cuffy joined the Gunners at the age of 12 and worked his way through the ranks at Hale End before heading to Lincoln City on loan in January 2022.

His successful spell with the Imps turned heads and he started the 22/23 season with Rotherham before switching to Coventry in the second half of the season. After helping the Sky Blues to the Championship play-off final he spent last year with Millwall.

Still only 20, he’s played more than 80 times in the Championship, which is no mean feat.

Moving to Serie A is certainly an exciting opportunity for him to develop further. Best of luck to him.

Also, that €2 fee – pure profit.

Don’t know how many of you know but it’s pure profit if you sell an academy player.

It wasn’t widely reported or discussed so I doubt any of you will know that.

Always here to help!

You won’t be aware of this, but that €2m actually only represents a cost of €500k to Genoa this season, as the full cost is amortised over the length of his contract. Not a lot of people know that I know that, but I do, and I’m sharing it with you all

The very best of luck to Brooke! I was really hoping he’d make it here, but it’s a tough starting XI to get into. I sincerely hope that this is the tart of a stellar career!

Nice little move, players need to play and we have to be better at moving on youngsters both financially and for their development.

Good luck at what hopefully is the start of a good career

How about we make better decisions on the youngsters coming thru the academy and enable them to actually break into the team rather than bin them off for pennies all the while rolling out the same old cliche “it’s better for all if he moves, he needs to play…etc etc”

Celebrating 2mil sale for an England u21 with bags of potential is a fkn joke imo. Meanwhile we chase a journeyman 28 yr old spaniard rather than coach our young talent to succeed in breaking thru. This summer has been a disaster for the academy.

Genoa is a lovely city. Good food, decent people, good weather (although right now it’s boiling as well). “Genoa Cricket and Football Club” is the oldest football club in Italy, founded by Englishmen (The name might hint at that. And the St. George’s cross in the crest), so an interesting club to join for an Englishman. The Marassi is hands down my favorite stadium in Italy, 200 years old and a lot like Highbury. The fans are all right. Mostly decent, some idiots, but at least no fascista. I hope Brooke enjoys his time there and continues his development. I… Read more »

200 years old! Was it for something else before football?

Master Floda

No. Typo. It’s 100 years old.

Good luck, Brooke! Highly undervalued player imho.
