That bench
Nwaneri on the bench to open the season, me likey. And then the question of which of our 40mil fullbacks gets to come on first? My bet is on Calafiori dreamy
Solid lineup, no Thomas Partey at right back nonsense on this season opener. COYG!
Just wait till Havertz replaces slides over ro left back while Calafiori comes in as an inverted Gabriel
Definitely the stupidest most typo-filled comment I’ve made to start a season, where’s that delete button we were talking about implementing
It was great!
COYG!!!!❤️💪🏼🔴⚪️
weird start to the season. you enter arseblog and most articles are about u16 leftback lambiquo jones and some lady who’s come to play from wycombe eagles. let’s hope our boys give us something to talk about today — particularly interested in that rice-partey relationship. coyg!
The Premier League officially begins in 60 mins time
Whelp, that’s my FPL in tatters already! 🤣
Exciting line up and bench – god it’s good to have something to be excited about at the weekend again 😂
Welcome back and this is where the quest begins. 3 points please; MU & L’pool already did their part.
Interesting to see both Nketiah and Nelson among the subs but unlikely they will see any time on the pitch. I still think they will be gone by the end of the month.
Trossard & Jesus will be brought on if we need a goal and Calafiori / Timber to close things out.
COYG!
The familiar line up makes it look like a continuation of last season.
I hope the march to the the EPL title begins today.
COYG!
So lets get this straight. At the start of last season Arteta prefers Martinelli but Trossard consistently outperforms him in less minutes played. By end of season Arteta can’t help but start Trossard and Trossard establishes himself as Arsenal’s most efficient (and lethal) finishers. What does Arteta do to reward him? Start Martinelli to begin the new season. For those who can’t stomach Arteta-criticism I hereby submit exhibit 14b.
When was the last time you touched grass, saw a butterfly, or something?
Martinelli is better for the team dynamic because of his ability to stretch the pitch. More explosive/dynamic than Trossard, better carrier of the ball in large spaces, better 1 v 1 too. Trossard strikes the ball better and so he has more end product. Great player to be able to bring on when you’re already on top. Martinelli is the guy that gets you on top though because he gets you up the pitch time after time.
Love nature almost as much as meritocracy. Yes Martinelli runs at people at his most confident but those runs don’t produce end product. His declining YoY stats speak to that. Trossard is better for the team because he is something wholly different – always clever, conniving and the best finisher on the team. Leo’s numbers speak for themselves too.
well, where is Kiwior???
On his way out of the club
seems so…… still think he is a good player
Yep, we should get a decent fee
lol.
Watch out for Zinchenko today. Two options for through passes from LB for Zinchenko in Martinelli and Havertz, who will interchange and look to exploit confusion with defenders switching assignments, then cut it back from deep in the left flank. Rice will stay high to pin and look to win the ball back early or get on cutbacks/rebounds. Odegaard will drop next to Thomas to dictate our deep progression. Saka will get switches from the left to isolate and will crash the back post from left sided actions.
Good analysis Dr.
Well prognosticated more or less! Zinchenko ended up switching play to Saka who along with Havertz then took advantage of the resulting confusion to thump it in from the middle of the box. That goal doesn’t happen without someone of Zinchenko’s tactical intelligence and passing acumen to find Saka like that.
The main thing about Zinny is he can act as a liability in several defensive roles.
I don’t know if that’s more of a main thing than the fact he helped us break the deadlock. It’s great we could bring up Timber who’s much more defensively solid to see out the result, but can he help us get a lead when we’re struggling at 0-0 (or down 1-0) against a low block? I think very possibly, that’s definitely what he’ll be asked to do, but so it still remains to be seen. Very few players in football have proven as good at the non-defending part of that role as Zinchenko so far.
I’m much more upset about his passing today than anything he did off the ball. He didn’t look assured or in control. Demanded the ball and then played too many simple passes. yeah he had the hockey assist but that wasn’t anything unique. He’s capable of so much better.
Three 3-0 to the Arsenal. COYG!!!(Please, Arteta, sign an out and out attacker.🙏🏾)
Decent UK stream anyone??
Martinelli motm you heard it here first
Martinelli mother……you heard it here…..second
Motm somehow autocorrects to mother…….you heard that here first
Yes, I’m excited too.
oh sure mate, it was the autocorrect… that’s what your motm said too
Ha love that
He wasn’t motm but he was one of the top 8 players we had out there
Cheers for a vintage season everyone
Looks like a 5-3-2 from Gary O’Neil today, guessing Ait Nouri and Bellegarde as wing backs. Gomes and Lemina forming a solid midfield, Strand Larsen and Hwang up top. Key will be to exploit the areas between WB and CB. Will need to be patient today.
Where’s kiwior?
I liked that guy.
He’s been replaced with Calafiori. Will be leaving the club.
Perhaps if Juve had kept Szczesny we could’ve gotten a trade going. Wojchiech+35mil for Kiwior+that bowl of Bolognese Calafiori brought with him from Bologna that he never got around to eating so is now a bit moldy. Seems like a fair exchange.
A bench of players who would start at most other teams.
