Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka have been shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year awards respectively.
As was the case with most of the 23/24 end-of-season gongs, Odegaard faces stiff competition from Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Rodri and Ollie Watkins.
It’s the second year in a row the Arsenal captain has been nominated for the player-voted prize. The Gunners haven’t had a winner since Robin van Persie in 2011/12.

Saka will be defending his crown at the award ceremony on Tuesday, 20 August but has to be considered an outsider given who won the big individual prizes last season.
Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Michael Olise, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro are the other nominees.

Excellent choice of photo!
Both deserve to win and should, despite the obvious bias I may have.
Foden has the first while Saka has the second.
Star boy saka all the way and our skippo in top 3..
I don’t think Ødegaard will win this but, my God, what a player. Just watching the friendlies, there are at least three or four passes/flicks/feints in each match that are astonishing. Add his brilliant defensive play and work rate, and I can’t think of any player in the world who is as good. If he bangs in a few more goals in the next couple of years (and Arsenal win something), then he will win the ballon d’or.
He is tremendous. But I think the others also have to step up and use those perfect balls to score more. It could be frustrating for him to see the mates vasting chances. after chances.
If there was a gong for “Most Slappable Face” then Ollie Watkins should definitely win it. In fact it should be a bong instead of a gong, both because it would be more fun to slap him in the face with a bong, and because of the sound it will make when it hits him. Otherwise I have no idea what he’s doing on that POTY list alongside 5 of the most talented players on the planet.
hate to say this but rodri for player and palmer for young player…sorry. hope i’m wrong.
