Arsenal are through the 4th round of the Carabao Cup after a 5-1 win over League One side Bolton.
Declan Rice opened the scoring, before a brace either side of half-time from Ethan Nwaneri made it 3-0. The visitors got one back, but Raheem Sterling with his first goal in red and white, and Kai Havertz added the gloss to a good night for Mikel Arteta’s men.
As well as first starts for Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, there were full debuts for 16 year old goalkeeper Jack Porter, right back Josh Nichols, and substitute appearances for Maldini Kacurri and Ismael Kabia.

Heard the stat that this game featured the first 4 Arsenal starters to be born after the Emirates opened in 2006. Making me feel old
Jorginho Borginho?
Yes, that’s his real surname, honest.
I was born on a Tuesday Blogs, but not last Tuesday!
Apparently he is Jorginho Borginho, Cavaliere OMRI which is like being a Knight of the Garter, only with a lot more style.
All actually true except for the Borginho part. Which your Portuguese announcers should have told you all about sir, surely? I bet they pronounced Jorge Luiz Frello Filho perfectly except you were too busy admiring Maldini Kacurri’s oval physique.
That’s crazy. I should have known that Blogs would never deceive us!
Oh no, if there’s a good laugh to be gained he will absolutely deceive us.
Jorge Luiz Frello Filho
Arsenal.com lists his name as Jorge Luiz Frello Filho
And Wikipedia has it as Jorge Luiz Frello Filho Cavaliere OMRI, which is quite a lot to fit on an ID of any type.
Not if your passport is as long as a piece of spaghetti, which is one of the benefits you get for being a Cavaliere like Jorginho. Not to be confused with Sylvinho whose passport was printed on an actual piece of spaghetti.
Sylvinho’s was written in crayon on the back of a used napkin from a pizza parlor.
It was written with expired pasta sauce on a leftover focaccia and they used mouldy little capers to dot the i’s.
10/10 for all the kids!
Kacurri. He’ll be back
Some chest on the boy Maldini , he’s a monsta, dunno how much if the ball he actually wanted to play but he’s a beast
He’s an Albanian, they take shit from no one.
and he’ll make us all go Kacurri-doodle-doo
That was so bad I had to upvote it. 😂😂
HAHA!
Imagine what a night this was for Porter and his family. Barely 16 and playing for the mighty Arsenal, and looking like he belongs. As a dad, it gives me goose bumps. Congrats, Porters!
I literally felt goosebumps all over my body when the Emirates erupted in a warm and LOUD applause the first time he caught the ball. That was LOVELY! Happy for the chap and his family
Pure class from the fans how they received him and cheered him on. It’s what you love to see and congratulations to him on a fine debut.
I can’t even begin to imagine what it felt like for him to start at keeper in the Emirates at his age. Just hope Raya does not miss any matches as he has been one of our best players so far this season and personally has saved many points for us.
Was very weird to feel so chilled about an Arsenal game after recent fixtures!
Ethan and Myles look fantastic – More gems from the academy knocking on the door.
Love it!
All things parked, I think Myles passing is top and his inverting , we know about Ethan but great to see him back up all the chatter about him but Nicholls i was well impressed with, super tidy on the ball and pace .
I was a bit disappointed Norton Brooke Cuffy didn’t get a chance but this lad looks good , needs to bulk up but skills are there .
Delighted with Sterliniho he’s well settled in
Brooke Norton Cuffy? He’s with Genoa now.
That’s what I mean I thought we’d keep him as he done well at Millwall but understand moving him on
Myles will be a better version of Zinchenko.
The kids are alright
Definitely no teenage wasteland
More than worthy ‘substitue’
‘Pinball Wizard’
gave the absolute first time debutants 10 for having a dream come true!
I really liked Kiwior on this one. He actually looked the senior one in that back four and gave me genuine confidence. I have no idea what his contribution might end up being in an Arsenal shirt.
I agree, Kiwior really stood out to me with his composure and progressive passing from the back. He’s still a fantastic backup and rotation option and I would be glad if we can keep him for at least the rest of the season.
Imagine having your 6th or 7th best defender a player of that quality, shows you how far we’ve come. Just 3-4 years ago we were dreaming of having someone as solid as him start most games for us.
Absolutely. Just compare him to Mustafi or David Luiz. There is no comparison.
Apart from the very occasional error, Luiz was an excellent signing. His distribution was excellent and his work rate and technique was brilliant too. I’ve never understood the animosity some supporters had for him.
We have to keep him , poor Tomis so injury prone and Timbers fitness is still a risk not to mention game time our Salibs and Gabs are getting.
Kiwior is great backup and play in number of roles but don’t play him v Sanes of this world as not many can keep up with him
That’s another good point. Admittedly he hasn’t played as many minutes but has Kiwior been injured since he arrived? His fitness seems impeccable and that kind of availability is a great quality to have.
It’s been tough for him because he is clearly a center back, but last year he had to play left back, which is not as good a position for him. He did okay, but he is better playing in his natural position like he did today.
In pre season when Arteta played timber at right centre half and kept white at right back he said he likes to change as little as possible and. I’ve as few players as possible if he can.
Surely Nwaneri is in contention to replace odegaard for 2-3 games at home and revert back to 4-3-3 ? If he can connect white and saka down the right and allow havertz to stay higher as a 9 we might really click offensively.
Martinelli could learn lots from Sterlings movement. That first Nwaneri goal, he goes from looking uninterested in the ball, to full sprint in behind, in the blink of an eye. The defender thought he had him covered and then BANG he is gone. If Martinelli doesnt up his game I could see Sterling being a big player for us this year.
Thanks Blogs. I see what you did there for Porter (I’m almost dying from mirth as I type). But you called him “Raya” and you forgot to add his pacifier.
Hahaha! I also loved the baby face… can attribute that one to Poorly Drawn!
And I didn’t get the reference for Sterling holding a boombox?

Fight the Power 👊🏾
Why we playing Saka in this game? Last thing he needs is more games on his plate especially early borderline meaningless cup games.
I know every academy has players who are great, but to see what Hale End has been producing makes me almost as proud of them as the main team. Seeing the likes of Eddie, ESR and Reiss go elsewhere and shine also makes me happy. They had to make way so these young bluds could get minutes. MLS and EN were levels above I felt, and then we have to take a moment, because when Saka got the ball, time seemed to slow. He has epic pausa and he is gonne be an all time great IMO
