Great starting lineup for a European opener. It genuinely baffles me that people talk about using squad players for games like this. It’s the competition that players and clubs work all season to qualify for and some expect us to play a second side? 3 points secured early so that we can play some squad players later in second half.

Definitely agree buddy but at the same time, he said in presser yesterday, strongest team for the win. Plus his whole mantra to catch up with 115ers and to compete for trophies is to have players who can play 3 times a week. He speaks of it regularly. I’m sure that the likes of Real Madrid don’t think of resting players for this comp, probably the other way around.
Would have played the same 11, maybe apart from Timber as he’s played a lot after such a long time out. But he’s pretty young and maybe his body doesn’t need much time to recover. Would be great if the offensive Gabis could make an impact today as it would do wonders for them in terms of confidence I guess.
Really think we should be resting TP and Timber but if Arteta wants the slightly rejigged team to have 60min together before Sunday then fair enough.
100% agree, Timber coming off of the long term injury and still a bit of a risk to go 90 three times in 8 days and of course Partey is always an injury risk, but I guess if either is injured at all and can’t go Sunday we have Calafiori and Jorginho available. Was hoping to see Calafiori get an opportunity tonight.
Reckon around both will get 60 minutes. Calafiori to be eased in and Jorginho to replace Partey

I know we are all rather keen to see Ethan get some minutes, but the guy I really want to see is Myles in a deeper midfield spot. I just can’t see Arteta puttting them both on in midfield in the second half.
Me too please, I’d like to see it very soon hopefully in the carabao. What we saw of MLS in preseason I think he has just as good a chance as Nwaneri at breaking into first team. Exciting times ahead.
