Kai Havertz spoke to the media after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over PSG at the Emirates this evening, in which was named Player of the Match. Here’s what he had to say.
On the performance …
I think we played very well, especially in the first half. Sometimes we were a bit too passive, but it was a good game. It’s a great result for us and a good three points.
On scoring 6 games running at home …
I don’t know. It feels great to play here. I love the stadium, I love the fans. I’m just so thankful to be here.
Enjoying the physicality …
Yeah, for sure. I think it was a big step for me. I think, back in the day, I wasn’t the player who loved the duels and everything, but right now I just love it. And love to help the team like that.
Did he worry about the keeper coming out for Trossard’s cross?
I didn’t even think too much. I just sort of went for it and was lucky that I was in front of the goalkeeper.
On what this result says about Arsenal …
Yeah, I think we are there. We win against teams like this, it’s important, you know, it always gives us a big boost. Last year, I think, against Bayern, it was tough to go out against them, to lose against them, but I think we grew up as a team and we want to get better this year.
Is there conviction to do better …
Yeah, but it’s so nice to play and to see the fans before the game, especially how they support us in difficult moments. That’s the most important and we want to give something back to them.
You gotta love him!,
Tall, fast, works hard, scores. Hard not to!
I wish I knew someone Chelsea fans….
Oh wait, no I fucking don’t.
Somehow I believe that we also engineered the Mudryk situation, drove up the price when they couldn’t help but buy everyone. Trossard was the target all along. Whatever the truth is, that is the narrative I am going with.
I believe you.
Yes Kai, feels like a gooner now
We love you too Kai
Another amazing performance. 👏 👏 👏 👏
May be me ? But I think he’s our most important player in a team of greats ! Incredible engine & you can see Arsenal is where he belongs Love the guy great player !
And maybe a shout out to Arteta and the staff for taking a player many had given up for dead and making him indispensable to the team
And in the face of so much flak from our own as well, the first few months of last season.
Somewhere I also think that Odegaard giving him the ball for that penalty and him scoring his first goal might have helped open him up too.
Pardon the pedantry, but wasn’t it Saka, although possibly following instructions from Ødegaard?
£60m down the drain 🙁
…Karl Haveetz scores again!🎵🎶
“The Drain” is how we should refer to Chelsea…
