Romari Forde relishing playing again after injury nightmare

After his first two seasons as a scholar were heavily affected by injuries, Romari Forde is determined to make up for lost time.

The 18-year-old was given an extension of his scholarship into a third season, which is something Arsenal haven’t done for over 20 years.

Also capable of playing as a winger, Forde has mainly been used up front of late and there have been some notable moments for him recently.

Forde has made two appearances for the U19 in the UEFA Youth League, which included a start in the opening game against Atalanta.

In addition, he has featured as a substitute for the U21s in both Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

When Khayon Edwards returns from suspension Forde may find himself having to wait a little for more opportunities, but it is clear that the club has faith in him.

A hard-working player with good technical ability, Forde has endured so much frustration over the past couple of years and it would be a fantastic moment if he was to score for the club at U21 or U19 levels.

The first aim for Forde this season will be to remain fit for the entirety of the campaign, but he will also be determined to convince the academy staff that he should be given a professional contract.

Previously at Watford’s academy, Forde played just once for the U18s last season due to his injury struggles but he now appears to finally be getting some better fortune on the fitness front.
