A brilliant first half strike from Bukayo Saka, followed by an excellent Thomas Partey finish early in the second half, capped off by Ethan Nwaneri’s first Premier League goal, gave Arsenal a well deserved 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners dominated, the visitors didn’t have an effort on target, and with three points and a clean sheet, it was just what the doctor ordered as we resumed after the Interlull.
Here’s how the players rated this afternoon.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 17 year old look so nonchalant scoring their first pl goal. If this lad doesn’t end up being a star, I dunno man.
Also, did Forest even have a shot? What a delightfully drama free matchday.
Nope. Zero shots on Target by Forest.
It was a complete game of football by Arsenal today against a team in top form.
Boy plays the game like an Ainsley Maitland-Niles penalty.
Took a minute but great comment
Nah, the kids totally overrated. It took him a whole 4 minutes to score.
19 shots, 3 goals, Ethan scores his first and a clean sheet to boot. What’s not to like
John Terry
Never gets old.
Really great performance all round.
0 stars out of 10 for ‘the letter of the law’.
You were also pissed by the lack of 2nd yellow card for ever so slightly delaying the restart?
PGMOL trolling us. Fucking trolls
I hate myself for it, but I am coming around to that pov
Nice to See Partey get a good rating, he was great. Am I the only one to notice the lack of celebration on Parteys goal on the liveblog? Both of the other goals were GOOOOAAAL and then when TP thunderc@@ts one in from 30 yards to give us a crucial cushion it was just Goal. Partey. A bit strange to say the least. If I wasnโt watching Iโd have been forgiven to think forest had equalised! Anyway great performance. All get 10s from me.
There’s a reason.
Which is? Or are you one of those who knows better and will serve judgment while watching the game on your sofa?
Care to enlighten me? I genuinely have no idea why.
It could just be a coincidence, or it could reflect the live blogger’s reservations after various reports suggesting the player may be of questionable moral character.
If the latter is the reason the live blogger would have to be some sort of cxxt then. There was no charges brought against him. Give more credit I would suggest, the live blogger set his stall out against TP5 like many did saying he was finished, his legs are gone, he canโt run. Heโs a wonderful player and deserves great credit.
Completely agree. A fit TP is a joy to behold. Also not sure Arteta would tolerate a player with a questionable character. Heโs been historically quite brutal.
Given we only get information via leaks and whispers it’s hard to form a judgement, but one can understand the club not wanting to jump ahead of due legal process. City have been burnt in this regard, ordered to cover Mendy’s unpaid wages.
A well paid man using a position of power for personal pleasure would be nothing new, but false claims, revenge and extortion are also possibilities. Maybe one day the truth will come out
Fair enough. I guess we should all reserve judgement and enjoy him as a fantastic arsenal player until that day comes (and hopefully beyond).
Those Abu Dhabi Vulgarians represent the height of moral correctness for their handling of Mendy, do they? My recollection is that they dropped him like hand grenade and later learned that a court found him not guilty. Ooooops. I wonder if they had to pay his salary and damages. I understand that justice can be, let’s call it, uneven. OJ was almost certainly quilty, but acquitted. The six police officers who shit beat Rodney King were guilty as sin, but the jury would preferred to believe the defense attorneys than their own eyes. That one hurt. Even a complete video… Read more ยป
My drama, wanting defeat for both teams of a game underway, how possible?
Iโm not even focused one bit on other teams at the mo. We need to find our momentum and consistency.
If we can string 8 wins together, then Iโll start looking around to see what else is going on.
I said this before the Spuds game ๐ ๐ ๐
Even the ref couldnโt fuck over such a competent performance
To be fair he did try though.
Does anyone have a treatment for Nwaneri Over-exuberance Syndrome? I’m afraid I caught it today…
The warning label says that if it lasts more than 4 hours, consult a physician.
they’re working on an innovative technique involving ketamine and a hypnotherapist who keeps repeating to you “thou shall not get overexcited about Ethan Nwaneri, thou shall not get overexcited…” and then Beetlejuice shows up, smacks you in the face and reminds you that Odegaard is fit again and he’s like maybe the best attacking midfielder on the planet
Different type of player, but there is a Fabregas type feeling to him. You just know heโs going to be one of the best.
That’s an exciting thought. I think you are comparing offensive prowess. I’m also thinking of Cesc’s tendency to get his kickings back and unerring aim with pizza slices.
I also remember Cesc being a wizard at cardless tactical fouling. Yeah, he got cards but never as many as he might have. That’s a good ability I’d also like for Ethan.
Perfect wkend. More of the same until May. And when are they going to extend Partey contract… He has been superb. It’s crazy that he will be out of contract at the end of the season.
Mo and saka were 10s for me. Poor Jesus, it just isnโt going to happen is it? Great effort so little result.
I rated MO a 10 even though it was not a 10 performance. But he is so good, changes the game so much for the better, he is such a pleasure to watch
Well that is point. Very few players truly make those him better in any sport. He is one of those very few.
The more I see Nwaneri, the more I can’t understand why we didn’t play him more. We’ve got a real gem here! And I’ve run out of superlatives for Saka and Odegaard, ridiculously good today.
Yep, came here to say the same thing but you beat me to it. He should have gotten more minutes when M.O. was out injured. Oh well…
Great performance today by the lads, we need to go on a long unbeaten run. The Scousers will drop points and we need to be on their heels.
It genuinely feels like the bin dippers are playing relegation fodder every week. I look at their fixture a day before and it like ohโฆthey have Ipswich at home. Oh they have West Ham, oh look they have Southampton. I know many on here wonโt agree but I find the idea of them winning the league in Slotโs first season vomit inducing. I despise them as much as Man Utd. City donโt exist in my mind as anything other than what they are. An oil state, corrupt sports washing play thing with no history.
He’s 17. Yes, he is good enough to play more first team football. But he could suffer a serious injury while not fully grown. Arteta is handling him correctly.
Update:
Maddison be throwing darts around $hittidad !!
….. but you just know this is gonna end up spursy
Absolutely insane how inconsistent the Spuds are. Wonderful also.
I canโt tell if Saka realises how good he actually is, and if heโs anywhere near his ceiling yet. We all love his humble nature, but I wonder if he had that same arrogance, swagger and extreme self-confidence we saw from the likes of Thierry or Ronaldo, quite how far he could go.
Saka is… Saka – why the fuck should he be anyone else?
FFS!
Saka has enormous self-confidence and plenty of swagger, in his understated way. No one wants to play with an arrogant mate. (Henry arrogant? Nah.) He’s going very far indeed, one hopes without leaving Arsenal.
The humble nature seemed to work out for Lionel Messi.. Saka is doing just fine
Humility is a virtue not a vice.
First half was like watching early Emirates era Wenger ball again. Loads to enjoy, only one goal.
The best was listening to/watching Manu drooling over the vintage style on Sky.
Thatโs what having a fully fit Gabby Jesus and a pass-first CDM does
Very controlled performance today, 3 nil was flattering to them. Odegard proved that he is THE player for us, we look a completely different team now he is back.
The biggest result today was a change in attacking mentality. I”m not sure if it was the manager’s call or the return of Odegaard, but this is the way forward, please and thank you.
Can we please, please, please come up with another song for Nwaneri? The โheโs one of our ownโ bullshit reminds me too much of that lot serenading that blimp-tongued piss pipe.
“blimp-tongued piss pipe”?
You are William Shakespeare and ICMFP.
Youโre very kind, although youโll need to explain what ICMFP means ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
You have to be pretty old to remember “i claim my five pounds”. It was a newspaper competition where they would publish a picture of someone who would be in a particular seaside resort and the first person to spot them would claim the 5 pounds prize.
Aside from experiencing mild PTSD at the the prospect of having another player sent off for phantom yellows, was a thoroughly enjoyable watch. MO is an absolute maestro and seems like Saka still finding new levels to ascend. And all this without Kai, Dec, and Ben – the future (immediate and longer-term) is very promising indeed!
Came from Aus to watch today. First timer .
WHAT. AN. EXPERIENCE!!
First time for me at the Emirates today. What an experience and what a dominant performance!
Congrats ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ
Great to see Jorginho finally get some minutes, and even an assist for “Radio” Raheem.
On a side note, the player caricatures are top notch this season!
As much as I understand the Jesus rating and where everyone is coming from. I quite liked his performance today. Reminded me of his first season with Arsenal. He was everywhere. Lots of energy. Chaos. Tricky. Saw the chemistry with Saka and MO like before. Created chances. Even if his shots didnโt quite come off he did have a good impact of old. He helped make everything move faster. Even though we all agree Odegaardโs impact is beyond clear I thought Jesus impact was telling. All those injuries hurt but I think he needs more starts and we need more… Read more ยป
