Arsenal U18s are back in action on Saturday as they host Crystal Palace in the Premier League Cup, with Adam Birchall looking for his first win since taking charge.
Birchall has been somewhat unfortunate in that he hasn’t been able to call upon the hugely talented Max Dowman for any of his three matches as U18s coach so far.
Dowman, who is one of the standout players for the U18s despite being just 14 years old, was initially absent due to international duty and he then missed the loss against Reading as he was training with the first-team.
It remains to be seen if Dowman will be back available for the U18s against Palace but if he can play then it will give Birchall’s team a huge boost.
A player with much flair, Dowman is naturally an attacking midfielder but he has also been used on the right wing at times, from where he can cut infield to devastating effect.
The youngster has also been involved with the U19s this season and became the youngest ever scorer in the history of the UEFA Youth League when he found the net against Atalanta.
Arsenal U18s already have a lot of talented creative and attacking players at their disposal and Dowman’s return could provide them with an extra edge.
