Arsenal U18s were beaten 1-0 away to Reading yesterday, with the team still looking for their first victory since Adam Birchall took charge.
Samuel Onyekachukwu featured as a late substitute in that game and the young defender will now be looking to establish himself in the starting lineup.
A defender who is a neat passer, Onyekachukwku signed scholarship terms in the summer having already featured for the U18s when he was a schoolboy.
So far this season the youngster has made six appearances for the U18s, while he was also named on the bench against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Youth League.
Brayden Clarke and Will Sweet are well established as the first-choice central-defensive partnership for the U18s.
However, if either player is unavailable at some stage this season then Onyekachukwu will be looking to step up and seize his opportunity.
Another young defender, schoolboy Marli Salmon, has featured prominently for the U18s recently.
Salmon, who can play at right-back or centre-back, has started regularly for the U18s and has also been involved at U19 level.
Arsenal U18s will return to action after the international break when they host Crystal Palace.
