Not a memorable match, but a memorable result cos we’re in the quarters.
Still problems with low blocks, but Renée brought on the super swedes, and we did it. Her substitutions while in charge have largely made a difference.

Can’t always sparkle but a leaf out of The Chav’s book. Make your own luck by grinding down the opposition by sheer persistence.

I thought it was hard work, but mostly down to Juve being so hard to break down, blocking passing lanes, and staying so compact and forcing us wide. We definitely played too slowly a lot of the time, but I thought we were more inventive and purposeful in our buildup play than we have been when facing a defensive setup in the last season and a half. This is how Lina Hurtig has been used in the Sweden matches I have seen – she’s the epitome of a super-sub. And she looked so distraught when she missed the easy header, it made it all the sweeter that she scored the winner. Noted Carla Ward has declared herself ready to get back into management coincidentally at the same time we have a vacancy!
Have to admit I wished that we had taken her on when we appointed Jonas rather than allow her to go to Villa but with the turnaround that Renee has produced in a short space of time it is hard to argue that bringing in somebody new shall significantly improve the team’s play and results. The only question mark over Renee at present is her scouting and future recruitment abilities are a little unknown, perhaps?
