Mikel Arteta has revealed this evening that Bukayo Saka has undergone surgery on the hamstring injury he sustained in the win over Crystal Palace last week.
Arsenal fans had already braced themselves for a significant absence, but the fact he’s gone under the knife adds another layer to the situation and is likely to see him miss around 12 weeks.
Speaking at his post-game press conference following the 1-0 win over Ipswich, the Arsenal boss said, “He had a procedure, everything went well. But unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks.
“I said many weeks so I think it will be more than two months. I don’t know exactly how much longer.
“It will depend on how the scar tissue starts to heal, the first week or so, the mobility of that. Let’s see it’s very difficult to say.”
It’s terrible news for Saka and for Arsenal, and history tells us surgery on hamstrings can be complicated. Kieran Tierney suffered a torn hamstring playing for Scotland in the Euros in June, and only returned to fitness in December, while in 2013 Lukas Podolski missed three months with the same injury – and was plagued by similar problems afterwards.
It means, at the very least, Arsenal will need to be ultra-cautious with Saka and his rehabilitation, but the job of winning games without him will require others to step up in a big way.
Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.
Fucking fuck.
Bollocks…
That’s a gut punch!!! Get well soon Saka. But Martinelli is NOT the answer.
Double dang.
yep we had one dang and now we have a second dang… we’ve now lost our two best players to long injuries in one season. Injuries are a part of football that should be accounted for, but this is the kind of luck that’s almost impossible to recover from to win the title. Need to buy someone of similar talent and we need that someone to hit the ground running, and both of those things will be tough.
We need to buy a replacement at the next window in January – nothing complicated about that. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Saka. Cheers❤️🙏🏽
I know what you mean but there’s no replacing Saka
Lol. Who did you have in mind that could replace saka, that would be available in the next transfer window? Nothing complicated about that..
The transfer window surely beckons…
Get well soon kid!
while it sucks, i think it will be good for him. rest a little bit, read some books, build some legos. he’s a kid that hasn’t been able to enjoy christmas or new year with his family for years. i truly think some time off the pressure of scoring a hat trick every three days is gonna do him good, and he’s gonna come back in a better place, mentally. we haven’t seen him peak yet and this could be an important stepping stone if he uses this time well.
From an unselfish perspective, yes agreed. But fcuk me he will be major chink in our armour..and he was odds on to break KingThierrys assist stranglehold.
Even when he wasn’t playing near his best, he was still consistently great
#Get that horse placenta shit out
It’s not looking good brev
I don’t even care about our season right now. I just want to see Saka return and get better and better. He deserves it and what a lovely kid. Get well soon!
He’ll be back and fresh for our Champions League run…
There are obvious ramifications for us over the coming weeks but I’d honestly give up a lot for the rest of the season just to see a fit and ready Bukayo, without any ongoing issues, on the pitch in August.
The assist curse strikes again – when ozil was on track to break the record he got injured too
Absolutely gutted. Hoping for a full recovery. Worried tbh that he won’t, and that we’ve seen apex Saka and apex Arteta-ball as a result. Very serious injury to one of the best footballers in the world. Pulling for you, Starboy.
Feck. And more feck.
Does that mean he isn’t getting that assist record now blogs ?
Oh dear, standing to pray that Saka supernaturally quickly heals to resume his game at Arsenal.
This is one of the worst case scenario but everyone will grow from this.
Take your time, don’t rush your rehab. We still have at least 10 years to spend together.
