Date confirmed for Arsenal’s FA Cup clash with United

Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United is scheduled for 3pm on Sunday, 12 January, and will be broadcast live in the UK on the BBC.

The two clubs are the most successful in the competition’s history, with Arsenal leading the way with 14 titles and United close behind on 13. The teams have met 16 times in the FA Cup, with Arsenal victorious on seven occasions, including two finals in 1979 and 2005.

The last time the two sides met, also in the third round, United ran out 3-1 winners at the Emirates.

As an aside, both sides remain in this season’s Carabao Cup, where Arsenal face Crystal Palace and United take on Spurs in the quarter-finals. Should they progress to the semi-finals and draw each other, it could add two additional fixtures between the sides to the schedule: one five days before the FA Cup clash and the other in February.

Would so love to meet, and thrash, Spurs in the league cup final.

I would cherish that for 100 years! (even after my death)

Whilst it would be excellent, I’m not sure I’d enjoy the 90 minutes one bit let’s not have spurs near a final that’s better for me.

Beat them twice in the semis would be just fine

I’d prefer to see Man U beating them very heavily and not having to engage with them anymore than is necessary.

Man U are shit. Just stomp all over them on the day. Next!

Imagine if we face them 5 times this season and trounce them all 5 times. It’s a shame they’re not in the Champions League so we can add to that tally.

It’s annoying to play the same team so many times, especially in these cup competitions as the better team, fighting for bigger trophies. We are exactly that to Man United at this time. Like City last year, the temptation will be to want to rotate just a few more players, and that could even out the match more than we might like. Also the more times a team sees you, the more likely they are to find a formula that disrupts you, especially if they aren’t playing for anything else and these games become the biggest objective of their season,… Read more »
