Kai Havertz spoke to the media after Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Ipswich this evening. The German’s 12th goal of the season was enough for all three points. This is what he had to say.
The win being all important …
Yeah, for sure. Three points at home. It’s a nice, tough opponent. It’s hard to break them down.
I still think they didn’t have a proper chance, so we controlled the game quite well. Should have scored maybe one or two more goals. At the end, we’re happy about the three points.
Frustration at not creating more in the first half …
Yeah, of course, but that’s, I think, the Premier League. It’s so tough. Every team is tough to break down. They’re a strong side, they fight for each other.
And, yeah, at the end, we’re very proud for the win.
On Trossard’s role in the goal …
Yeah, he’s an amazing football player. It’s fun to play with him. I saw him on the left-hand side. He likes to take those one v ones. So, it was a good goal.
Adapting his role when Jesus went off …
I’m used to it. And I like to play different roles sometimes. For me, it’s fun. Whenever I play, I try to help the team. And that’s what I try to do every game. And today was a different role than before.
On life without Saka …
He’s a massive player for us. He’s scored so many goals, so many assists. And everyone has to step up because we know he’s important. But we’re ready for the challenge. Martin was out for a couple of weeks, for a couple of months.
And they’re very important players to us, but we have to adapt.
Arsenal unbeaten at home this season and the fans role …
Yeah, very big. They’re massive for us. You know, home games are so important to us. We feel the energy. We feel that they support us every minute. Everyone is together in this. We are one football club. The fans support us as players and staff.
And everyone has to raise the level to win games.
Nothing else to add. Have a good rest and see you in 2025 !
Although we dont always get the results, our away fans are massive
. I love you guys, so loud, so proud.
Sometimes louder than home atmosphere, but yeah, happy new year lets kick on and we move onward and upward.
A weak side played at home. Probably should have done better but will take the three points!
Guess a talented German striker who could provide insightful post match commentary would’ve cost us 70mil eh 😝
Anywho. I’d just like to point out that he keeps getting the type of goals where we comment after the match that it’s the easiest goal he’ll score all season, and then he scores an even easier one. Perhaps there’s something to be said about the intelligence of his movement to keep popping up in those positions?
60 million down the drain
Shame nowhere Everton or Fulham. Again.
Good stuff from Kai. Right place, right time. Winning is always good.
Nah we need a striker who instinctively knows how to be in the right place at the right… Oh…
Yeah we do.
