According to various reports, Arsenal are in pole position to sign Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg before the transfer window closes on Monday.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, regarded as one of Europe’s most promising talents, made his Norwegian league debut at just 15. Since then, he’s become a regular for Rosenborg, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists in 53 league appearances, earning him a spot in Norway’s under-21 squad.
Like compatriot Martin Ødegaard, Nypan has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs. He even watched Manchester City’s win over Chelsea from Erling Haaland’s box at the Etihad, amid reports the City Group want him for Girona. However, Arsenal’s offer of an immediate place in Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad could prove decisive.
With Jorginho and Thomas Partey potentially leaving in the summer, Nypan – capable of playing as both a No. 8 and No. 10 – could bolster Arsenal’s midfield alongside the anticipated arrival of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.
Elsewhere, The Athletic reports that Oleksandr Zinchenko looks more likely to leave this month than Kieran Tierney. The Ukraine international is a target for Borussia Dortmund, while the Scotland international is believed to have agreed to a Bosman move to his former club, Celtic, in the summer. Meanwhile, Ayden Heaven is “assessing his options” after being approached by Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester United.
Trying no to get too excited about this one until it is announced… I’ve watched highlight reels and this kid looks incredibly talented. It will be a coup if we beat city, as no doubt they have offered him a lot of money plus first team football at Girona
All I’d flag on this one is that Rafaela Pimenta (who took over Mino Raiola’s operations) appears to be his agent, hence appearing in Haaland’s box. Perhaps she’s willing to be brutal; Haaland’s got his new deal, she’s made her money, Haaland’s dad’s made his money and her allegiance is to her clients, not to City. However… too much experience and angst with this side of the game has taught me to exercise caution whenever relationships like this exist.
Me too. Does anybody know how much a viking helmet costs and is it available in adidas stores?
I think adidas could do well out of this – it certainly seems to be a golden era of Nordic talent in the prem
Join a club young man, made solely from class. Do the right thing.
So heaven is weighing up his options lol if he decides to leave has has the choice of a delicious bacon sandwich or a 💩 sandwich!! It is a no brainer, avoid ManUre!!!
If he wants minutes in the PL, there are more opportunities in red and white. Our midfield is ravaged by injuries, sniffles and baby vomit. 😉
Is it? I think that’s the one area that isn’t.
Merino has problems staying fit and Ødegaard have had a few illness issues the past few weeks. Central midfield (Partey, Jorginho and Rice) work alright, but our offensive output?
Multi club model sucks… it should have never been allowed.
How the hell is it okay that we are playing Girona (co-owned by city and peps brother) a few days before we play City? Ridiculous. If Nypan signs for Girona, Girona injure some of our players Wednesday then we lose to city on Sunday, I may have some kind of a breakdown 😂
I still can’t believe how little people spoke about the Savinho deal. 19 year old who is owned by one City Group club (Troyes) and on loan at another Brazilian winger absolutely lights up La Liga and leads Girona to the Champions League. As of June he was valued on Transfermarkt at £50m. City signed him competition-free for £25m including add-ons. My other favourite example: September 2020: Ruben Dias, a CB, signs for City for “only” £60m from Benfica, paid in cash on the day. Also September 2020: Otamendi, who cost City £35m pre-Neymar, joins Benfica for a cut-price deal,… Read more »
Savinho remains Troyes record signing – he did not play a minute for them
Yet another data point that we’re in an “anything goes” league. When City get their relegation for the PSR violations, cutting off this sort of self dealing nonsense should be immediately next on the PL rules agenda. It is just another type of related party transaction.
I don’t understand why people say Arsenal should go the same route – there’s no real commercial value in it, it’s just financial jugglery if you have money to launder.
Basically if city and Chelsea are doing the same things, then you know it has nothing to do with football and everything to do with getting around rules that other clubs have to follow (multiclub arrangements, targeting youth to sell on quickly, 9 year contracts etc)
Yeah the only club it has really worked for is Red Bull, but that is a very specific system that works for specific reasons: Austria speaks the same language as Germany and the top of the Austrian League (RB Salzburg) are as good as mid-table German league teams, so you can bring a player, develop him, teach him German and have him well-adapted and at the required level for the main team in Germany. The only comparable example would be buying a team like Hearts in Edinburgh, but I can’t imagine any Scottish team allowing that (nor should they). Buying… Read more »
I think you’ll find Hearts were bought by the Roy family
Ya it’s absolute bollocks. Like you think of Girona and it should be an exciting football club story coming up from lower league but instead its just boring and not impressive when you realise its part of city group.
Common practise with plenty of brown paper bags going around …..
But DON’T you dare call the FA and PGMOL a ‘desgracia’ because
‘ONLY THEN’ is the beautiful game being brought into disrepute 🤨
…..vomit
He’s very good in football manager.
That’s all I got but they can be trusted. Look at Cherno Samba
Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri are already getting plenty of minutes so that should help reassure him the promise of immediate first team inclusion is sincere. His pathway to first team football is clearer with us and I hope he makes the right decision.
Yes and I’m sure the fact that at least one of Partey and Jorginho leaving in the summer will be part of negotiations. He basically has a spot in the match day squad ready and waiting for him.
I would love to have Nypan in Arsenal since i know him as a player very well. Technically gifted ,strong for his age and score goals.
He will however not have any impact this season , his home club has been very careful with training since he’s been in a growth phase and to get up to speed with PL demands will take time.Cross my fingers that he chose the right path and not that one to Mordor…
Errr.. Frodo and Sam do go to Mordor, but I know what you mean. Nypan shouldn’t join the Dark Side. Hell of an album though.
Isn’t that the film that’s 28 hours long? I got half way through before I realised I wasn’t watch All Or Nothing; Stoke City.
Inconceivable! The books are great comfort reading for rainy days. Mind you, I don’t blame you thinking of Stoke with all the orcs rampaging.
bye bye Heaven, vastly over hyped
Worrying trend of United stealing some of our youth players. Heaven going to United would be a loss, but at the same time, I find it strange he wants to join a basket case club. Considering the recent injuries to our defense it is strange he sees no path to the first team. But as I’ve always said, if you don’t want to play for Arsenal, get out of the club, there are thousands who do.
Perhaps we were open to selling him.. If say we get £2m for heaven, then in accounting terms that would cover the purchase of a £10m player in this years accounts (assuming that £10m is spread over the course of a 5 year contract which equals £2m a season.) There are obviously assumptions that we’d get as much as £2m – but if it was around that then it would cover the cost of a certain £10m player discussed above..
How much did he go far? Just interested. Was he good enough to breakthrough
Don’t think it has been confirmed yet. I doubt it will be much – we could have kept him until his terms expired and it would then go to a tribunal (if not settled between the clubs prior). I don’t know what the outcome was with Chido – he was unable to officially sign for Utd for several months after he left us due to legal wrangles over compensation – no idea what the outcome was
Heaven to hell
Marble halls to manUre
Most interesting to me is this likely means we see Nwaneri’s future as something other than a 10.
Nypan translates to pinch or the pinch in Swedish. Nypa or nypor is also slang for hands.
It’s a funny name.
Hopefully we’ll nypan Nypan before some else nypans him.
That’s right up there with “Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo”
It should be the fourth “Buffalo” capitalised, not the third, methinks. 😉
It’s a funny old name 😂
I never liked us doing business with the twats up in Manchester.
The main reason is that they ruin players ( all players) and I don’t want that to happen to Heaven
Nypan now, and Zubi + Sesko in the summer. 🤞🏼
