Arsenal U21s and U18s secure victories

It was a positive weekend for Arsenal overall, with the U21s and U18s joining the first-team in securing victory.

Firstly, the U21s won 2-1 at home to Middlesbrough on Friday night.

Khayon Edwards, who will hope to be called up to the first-team at some stage given the current injuries in attack, put Arsenal ahead in the 35th minute.

Middlesbrough equalised courtesy of a penalty from Sonny Finch, but Michal Rosiak’s goal, which was set up by Charles Sagoe Jr, ensured that Arsenal prevailed.

15-year-old defender Marli Salmon made his debut for the U21s at centre-back and gave a good account of himself.

Arsenal were without Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, who was on the bench for the first-team against Leicester, with Ismeal Kabia also missing.

Yesterday the U18s were in action as they won 4-2 away to Southampton.

Dan Casey has been superb in front of goal this season and he made a significant contribution with a hat-trick.

Substitute Alex Marciniak also got on the scoresheet as the U18s extended their winning run in all competitions to six matches.

Schoolboy Jack Tomlin featured in goal, with fellow U16 players Teshaun Murisa and Brando Bailey-Joseph also starting.

Given our injuries, we need to make this negative situation into a positive one and give these youngsters some minutes in the first team. If we don’t end up winning anything this season, we can be proud of 2 starts added to our first team this season, Nwaneri and LMS. Also beating Sp*rs twice is a great season in my book.

Fully agree to give them some minutes. Any random person aged less than or equal to 21 can play as good as or better than Sterling, let alone these professionals.

Bird i was very impressive with our number 7 Zecevic John. 3 assists and 1 goal. Could well be our Marmoush in the making. Can we dream ??
