Prolific Dan Casey pushing for involvement with Arsenal U21s

It has been a hugely eventful season for Arsenal U18s which has included the departure of Jack Wilshere and progression to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

One constant throughout the campaign, however, has been the impact made by Dan Casey, with the 17-year-old finding the net with regularity.

Casey is capable of playing as a striker but he is usually deployed as an attacking midfielder for the U18s and has scored 12 goals in 11 league games at that level so far this campaign.

In addition, Casey has also scored twice in the Youth Cup, with his prowess in front of goal marking him out as an excellent prospect.

Last weekend Casey scored a hat-trick in a 5-2 league victory away to Southampton as he outlined his ability to link play effectively and finish in style.

Having also been featured for Arsenal’s U19 side in the UEFA Youth League this campaign the next target for Casey will be to be called up to the U21 squad.

Casey has already been involved with the U21s in friendlies but given the impact that he has made for the U18s it surely won’t be too long before he features for the older age group in a competitive fixture.

There is a lot of competition for places in midfield for the U21s but Casey deserves a chance and should he sign a professional contract he could be a key player at that level next season.
