A hatchet job someone described it as earlier, that was correct and the ref was apparently in on it. I hope that is the last I see of him

matt senior

I sympathise with bonjour in suggesting we snap a stoke leg or two but… let’s not.

Because of the bizarre inconsistencies shown by referee somefuchwhatshisname

matt senior

Sorry phone is being a cunt…

Somefuckwhathisname-Pulis (inbreeding I tell you) this was my favourite Arsenal performance in some time. Battling! I just wish theo and olivier were a little just a little more clinical and that santi would get his head over the ball more often. We would have scored a shitload! COYG

Kenyangoon

I would really like to see the stats on bookings for when we play these thuggish teams. Honestly, it feels like when they foul us, ref does nothing, when we give it back, bookings galore! So what? Are we just supposed to sit back and let ourselves get kicked until someones leg is broken buy some idiot who then ends up getting more sympathy than the one whose leg they broke? Ffs!

In a way, it was good to see some payback being dished out by Carl on one of Sunderland thugs even though it resulted in a 2nd yellow. Shows that our guys are standing up against rugged opposition….

Bonjour

It would not be appropriate in normal circumstances, but when faced with an FA and referees all too willing to kick Arsenal out of the top positions through sanctioned violence, I think we need to cause some horror injuries on teams like Stoke and Sunderland – an eye for an eye – to show our loyalty to the “English” game. Then tell tony pulis to “keep his opinions”.

Lasagna

Sagna was a real beast today, hand him a new contract ASAP.

Arsene's Nose

Thanks again, just a suggestion but any chance of a little more brief analysis after some key and/or particularly telling numbers? I realise those sets generally speak for themselves and the purpose of this column is to illustrate how a match has played out ‘by the numbers’ but some further summaries and conclusions would I think add something.

king_bilo

“257 – Passes completed by Sunderland, all of them.” heh! ’nuff said

matt senior

Could you make some key suggestions that make sense? What are you on about?

matt senior

That was meant to reply to arsenes nose

Tintin

Not to take anything away from Bacary, who was amazing today, but the Mertesacker – Sagna comparison isn’t really fair on Mertesacker since left wingers are usually a lot worse in the air than central strikers.

Jim Jimminy

But Sagna was cb today too.

No matter what position sagna is put, you can bet he’ll put in a 100% warrior-esque shift and that’s what sometimes gets you all the three points. One bac.

Juice

Can anyone please tell me what counts for successful clearance?
(Difference unsuccessful x successful)

Thanks

Juice

Thank you. 😉

They hacked us to shit…

781 – The number of times i wish i could skullfuck anthony taylor in his eyesocket as i jam a firm turd into his other eye socket and every other dirty ref including all members of the FA and the Ref’s association for their utter ineptitude and obvious corruption. Bunch of thundercunts.

meletios

Like this…ramsey was good..its not often that we manage to defend 1-0 lead…more of same please, except the red card ofcourse.

Asunder in Hindi means ugly… Uglyland, i like the name

I like the way Sagna is talking, about a new contract, on the pitch. Give HIM what he wants.

GUN

This match shows the importance of Jack wilshere. As soon as he was substituted, Arsenal midfielders (mainly Diaby) started loosing pocession. Jenkinson was under lot of pressure in that 5-6 minutes before the red card tackle.

Zeddington

Good stuff. I like the hustleboard, but eyeballing it doesn’t let me draw any clear conclusions. I can’t really tell if there is a correlation between more duels in general and more wins. What can you make out from looking at it, Tim?

Zeddington

Cheers, thanks. Every time you post it, I eyeball it trying to draw conclusions, trying to see if there is any indication that winning more aerial duels, or tackling more would quantifiably help us win. I look forward to your future post.

GIROUD

Sagna has won more ariel duel than the BFG????????Woow just woooow

Nico

Michael Williams?

Nir

I guess that chap from swansea, fellow wales fella

Tony Pulis

That’s Ashley Williams, you know, the guy with a statue outside the Emirates after ‘almost killing’ judas.

ashley williams plays for swansea. Who is michael williams? I have yet to see highlights but was schzeney that good? Hes been due a great game. Fair play

Aaron Wakelin

19 – Tackles that Arsenal attempted v. Sunderland
17 – Tackles that Arsenal won v. Sunderland (one miss by Ramsey and one by… Jenkinson!)

I may be wrong here, and correct me if so, but Jenkinson received two yellow cards for two mistimed tackles. This would mean two misses by Jenkinson, surely?

Not being pedantic, just trying to get my head around the stats and if they are correct as stated above I’d like to understand the difference.

^^
I wanted to write exactly the same thing. Both of his cards were given for almost identical challenges. So for me if the second was a missed tackle then so was the first one

Arsene's Nose

SAMKO, thanks for the response. Wasn’t asking because you’d missed anything or because something didn’t make sense, it’s just that sometimes I’m a bit slow on the take up so have to think for a bit about what the numbers are saying and occasionally still can’t fathom it even then. As I say, most are of course self-explanatory e.g. ’11 – cunts on the pitch’ would of course indicate without further explanation that we’re playing Stoke/Sp*rs/United etc., but every now and then a quick explanation after something that might not be too obvious would be handy.

Durham Gooner

‘..do the math’ MATH? Very disappointing.
