Aneke linked with Crewe return

Via the BBC comes the news that Crewe want to take Chuks Aneke back to the club after a successful loan period last season.

Arseblog News assumes this is another loan deal, with manager Steve Davis telling the BBC Radio Stoke, “I’ve had dialogue with Chuks, he’s been in Asia. So we’ll just check out that position there.

“He did terrific for us last season. I think initially people didn’t see his quality, but over time he came to fruition and his fitness was much better.

“The quality, creativity and goalscoring ability he’s got was apparent to everybody. He’s the creative player that [former captain Luke] Murphy was and we could do with that type.”

Aneke did play during the Asia tour, at one point filling in at centre-half, but his chances of breaking into the first team at Arsenal at this point are minimal.

Although a loan seems likely, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a permanent move were in the offing too. We shall see.

With so many outgoings there MUST be quality incomings (clutching at straws). I’m sure Wenger will sign at least 1 player of Cazorla & Podolski’s quality this window.

Cazorla linking up with Suarez would be orgasmic, and I’m sure , as Santi is such a nice guy, he can reform Luis and turn him into a gentleman.

mike

maybe Santi claus will bring Suarez a soul for christmass

Jammathon

What is with all this straw clutching?

remember the invincible, because we aren't good anymore

when do we get transfers IN? ahhhh. COYG hurry up

shouldn’t “invincible” in your name be in plural??

muahah ..great catch there harsh !!! ..

AFC

Clutching at Straws –> Marillion album from the 80s. I still love it 🙂

Si in Galway

hahaha, if it wasn’t for the dark cloud of fear, this level of desperation would be hilarious.

Steve Davis snookers Arsenal Starlet with A neke move. Creweshill Chuck steaks claim.

Norn Iron Gooner

Fail… nice try tho.

Xanthias

So, probably Wenger is looking for someone who can play both striker and centre back

Mooro

Chris Whyte or Paul Mariner probably.

jsergio

Chris Sutton?

Si in Galway

Giroud!

heh

He has one in ramsey doh!

Gunner From Another Mother

Eric Zavaleta! jk he can’t even get game time for my Seattle Sounders…

Parisian Weetabix

I think Chuks would have to do a lot to earn a place in the squad, mainly because if Arsene’s going to show faith in any young striker right now it might as well be Chuba.

TomC

That guy in blue throws shapes like I did in the ’80s. Aciiiiiiid

Well spotted Tom, I’m imagining Stakker Humanoid blasting out while Frimpong wanders over and sells the raver bloke an E.

Sean

I saw that and thought “someone had to have made a great comment about his dance moves”, otherwise I will. You, sir, did way better than I am capable.

Double98

Id rather keep Chuks and Chuba and those lads rather than blow dough on anymore gervihnos or arshavins.

I’d love a bench with Zelalem, Gnabry, Eisfeild etc.

Si in Galway

I don’t think anyone’s proposing we spend medium (£7-15M) cash on people we highly anticipate are going to be poor/mediocre players.

Double98

No but whats the point in a youth system that produces 1 pearl to toss at a thousand swine… Ray Parlour, Paul Davis, Tony Adams may never have made it out of the acadamy.. for example…I think Miquel is a decent defender.. he’s made far fewer errors per minute i saw him than say Djourou or Squillaci etc… Yennaris never let us down, nor did seb larsson… but players we invest transfer fees in do get extra chances… Look at the kids on tour – Eisfeld, Zelalem, Gnabry, Miquel, Akpon, Aneke etc… they could be a very golden generation given… Read more »

We tried that once. Now our golden boys are in Barcelona and both Manchesters.

Have you tried Argos?

Midfield Corporal

My original comment looks very random now, it was supposed to be responding to Double 98’s wish for a bench with Zelalem, Gnabry and Eisfield. Not sure it was even worth explaining.

Dr Baptiste

Can you explain to me why you’re explaining why you won’t be explaining?

Midfield Corporal

I can’t explain that!

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013%E2%80%9314_Arsenal_F.C._seasonTake a look at our transfers out/loans out on the Arsenal 13/14 wiki page. Transfers in has a big fat zero but I’ve never seen a clearance like this.

Dr Baptiste

If you’re talking value then yes, zero is correct but if it’s players in then the number would be 1

Double98

We are swapping TGSTEL for JESUS gamez

Jesus, Santi… we’d have christmas sewn up…

We could get someone called Rudolph in goals and Alydd Jones as a defensive midfielder

Si in Galway

and Kevin Prince Boateng would develop into a king, then we only need two more and you’ve got the 3 ings central spine sewn up.

Si in Galway

kings even

Double98

Suarez with them buck teeth would get us Easter too…

now we need a leprechaun, A jackolantern and Cupid to slot in across the defence…

Arshavin's Dietician

Cupid = Giroud
Jackolantern = Mr Wilshere
Leprechaun = Bernard

Solid Gooner

Would be sad to see him leave permanently but is shaping up that way. Huge prospect with bags of potential but unfortunately with too many others ahead of him in the pecking order.

Terrys ballz to baloteli's booth

Hw abt micheal phelps? Thats maquee

TeeCee

I’d suggest Jim Phelps, but signing him would be mission impossible……

Midfield Corporal

If Bale is worth £85m, what would Thierry circa 2004 cost? There were rumours when the Russian took over at Chelsea they went to David Dein and and offered £50m for Henry and Vieira but were sent away with a flea in their ear. But then Dein understood to have a great team you need great players…. Until your bastard offspring sells them that is.

Voldermort

You have to hand it to levy, he seems to get value for his players, one thing I’ve never thought we did apart from the Adebayor and toure deals.
Roll end September 1st and let’s gets this misery over with. It really is beyond boring now.

Midfield Corporal

I think we did well with Nasri, but Clichy seemed quite cheap. The Cesc one was hard to swallow, we should have just come out and said £50m not a penny less. I’m still astounded we haven’t bought Fellani, he is proven in prem league, and if he’s available at 23m that seems relatively good value compared to some of the deals being done. It sometimes feels like Arsene is playing a game to see how far he can stretch our patience, I can imagine him chuckling to himself while the club announced the signing of an unproven young Frenchman… Read more »

I still want to believe that wenger will make signings corp. the bloke is an intelligent man and I just refuse to believe that he thinks this squad is strong enough to compete in the way we all want them to. I can’t fathom that as a club we could be so arrogant as to think that thier are no players out there than can improve our team. So il keep the faith corp until September the first then after that if we have made no progress then arsene and the the board will deserve all the abuse that will… Read more »

Thing is Volders there have been many occasions over the past 5 yrs when we desperately needed strengthening in areas and nothing was done. I bought my tickets for the Villa game yesterday, but if we haven’t made any signings by then I’m not sure i want to take my 7yr old because as you say the atmosphere will be toxic. Arsene may be an economist but his an awful psychologist, he doesn’t seem understand that fans and players need a lift and signing some exciting players does that. If he treats his wife like he treats the fans i… Read more »

Please just sign someone! Its killing me! I’m getting to the point where I’m beginning to think Carlton Cole looks a decent option!

Dr Baptiste

Does Yaya Sanogo rings any bells?

Dr Baptiste

ring* any bells (damn extra letters)

Rictastic

If we won’t sign anyone let’s at least try and involve some of the really good academy lads.it’ll allow some of the first team a rest as we battle for fourth. Hehehe bring those thumbs downs now

Dr Baptiste

No, thumb me down. I’M SPARTACUS!!

Now that Hooper has signed for the Canaries, maybe Delia will *finally* sell us Grant Holt!

Dream team stuff, that. Suarez + Holt = look out, Man vs Food (or should that be Man vs Centre Backs smothered in BBQ sauce)

A N Other

Grant Holt is a Wigan player now.
Anyway, we are top class signings that Ivan promised and haven’t delivered as yet?

Dr Baptiste

Glad to see you’re keeping up with the transfers Sam. You could always get Owen Coyle’s number from Delia…

Who? That nice man John Bond manages the Canaries, as any fule kno

Nope
it’s former spud Chris Hughton.

It’s fine that players who can be let go of are being let go of. It’s fine that players who can be sent out on loan are being sent out on loan. What’s not fine is the lack of players coming in to strengthen the team. We have a real opportunity to cash in on our stability by bringing in quality players in order to challenge for titles. So far we’ve done nothing. We’ve spent nothing. All we’ve done is made more money. And rather a lot of it. Not winning titles having strengthened the side is forgiveable. Not winning… Read more »

I’m optimistically hoping that we have actually done all our deals and are just waiting to finalised the Cesc deal before announcing the signings of Fellaini, Lewandoski and of course Philippe Mexes at one magical press conference.

Wenger said we can challenge for league hmm how can we with one out and out forward three centre backs and 2 inconsistent polish keepers we seriously haven’t got the squad to maintain a challenge and play in three cup competitions anyone remember Blackburn and Bradford !!!!! And we have supposed to go rid of the shit which leaves the kids and quote wenger ” we want to give the younger players a chance u not world class yet but could be ” sorry fellow gooners no big name signing but if sanogo has good season everyone will be saying… Read more »
