The BBC are reporting that Aaron Ramsey is a doubt for Wales midweek friendly with the Republic of Ireland due to an ankle injury.
With all due respect to any Welsh readers, Arseblog News doesn’t really care if he plays in a meaningless friendly or not, but his lack of availability for the Premier League opener against Villa does concern us.
Ramsey was on the end of a couple of bruising tackles against Man City on Saturday, so hopefully it’s just a bit sore rather than anything more serious like a twist or ligament damage.
Arsene Wenger will see most of his first team squad go away on international duty this week, with Santi Cazorla named in the Spanish squad which plays in Ecuador on Wednesday night. That game kicks off at around 9pm GMT and with a lengthy flight throw in, it seems unlikely he’ll be ready to start against Villa having missed most of pre-season due to the meaningless Confederations Cup.
With Arsenal’s squad already thin due to the departures which have taken place this summer, a couple of injuries could have a serious impact on our start to the season.

It was obviously the malicious tackle late in the game by Silva. The ankle went right over. Knew as soon as I saw it, there would be some lasting damage. Hopefully, 1 week but probably a couple.
No-one seems to notice that kind of tackle these days, one took Rafael out of the United game yesterday too, not that I care about their players but I don’t think it even got a free kick.

Been saying it all summer, if we can’t get the high profile names we all want, we should still add experience like Di Natale or Klose, they’ve been smashing them in all last season in Italy. Villa also went for £4m, we could’ve used him for a couple seasons..

Hope Rambo recovers soon especially for Fenerbahce. Gustavo must be ready to take his medical but surely it will take ten days before he plays or do we throw him straight in? I am also confident we will get Suarez and Cesar and hopefully Kondogbia who is going to be the next Vieira. Thank God we have Villa and Fulham to start with. I really hope this isn’t as bad as I fear. Ramsey has been our most improved, and also our most consistent, player for the last few months. If he were absent I’m not sure I fancy our chances on Saturday against Villa. He’s such a vital cog in the system. And everyone knows you need cogs. And this is all bcoz of our dear manager. We are so damn thin as a team, any injury or a suspension will badly affect our new super team, due to lack of good replacements.

What will really make Wenger go out there and buy some quality players to bring depth to our already stretched squad? The last time he went on a shopping spree was when we lost our opener to Liverpool and were outclassed 8-2 by Man U. A few days ago, I called upon all arsenal players to underperform to the point we don’t win any silverware. It was labelled as “the stupidest comment ever” It’s not good to wish your team to loose games but if that is what makes Wenger go out there and strengthen our squad, why not?
