Ramsey reveals hamstring issue

Despite Wales manager Chris Coleman saying Aaron Ramsey missed the game against Finland with the remnants of a flu virus which laid low a number of Arsenal players, the midfielder says it was a hamstring problem which resulted in his absence.

Speaking on Twitter he said, “Gutted to miss the game yesterday, my hamstring was tight after training. Medical staff didn’t want to risk me.”

However, before you fall over with fear and dismay, he went on to say, “Will be fine for next weekend,” when the Gunners face Southampton in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Germany are resting Mesut Ozil for their game against England on Tuesday night. Coach Joachim Löw said of the former Real Madrid man and teammates Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm, “They are the absolute backbone of our team and, for me, it is more important to give others a chance against such a strong team as England.”

It’s good news for Arsenal as Ozil had been looking a bit tired in recent weeks. It means he, along with Laurent Koscielny, will get a good rest before our next game.

Germany resting big name players in international friendlies! That’s crazy

Adam Richards

Calling England a strong team is also pretty crazy.

I would have rested Ozil against CP away, quite glad in hindsight I don’t pick the team………

I miss Bergkamp

It is only England in Wembley

Arsene's jacket

Croatia beat England at Wembley in ’07

ETTAN

Löw is looking more and more like a manager who has brains, you know. This is not the first time he has rested “key players” in a meaningless friendlies just to give a “fringe players” a chance. Didn’t he rest Poldi and BFG at one point last season? Anyways, this is good news for us, Özil definitely needs a rest.

Oor Wullie

Jings, help ma boab!

Mooo

Oh blogs, you should put “nothing serious” in the topic. I almost had a heart attack.

J Humphrey

German side can rest key players but still have the class to beat they have more strength in depth

Andrew

Good for arsenal

Mooro

Think even the international managers seem to agree that this latest series of games (play-offs aside) are a complete load of bollocks.

Absolutely nothing to be gained by anyone by playing players who are set in stone on the teamsheet.

Jack

Hope, Rambo is A-Okay. As for Wilshere “not getting enough game time at Arsenal”, it needs to continue – even benching him altogether for important games – if Arsenal are NOT to drop more points. Jack is a liability.

ETTAN

Calling Jack a liability is a little harsh I think, he hasn´t been that bad actually (except the game against WBA, and he did score a goal which won us a point). He just lacks match fitness and I have no worries whatsoever that by the end of the year he will be back to his best. Just needs a little bit of special treatment from Wenger.

Bucks

Really? Are we doing this shit again? Have we not learned from Ramsey?

WizardOfOzil

This interlull has injury written all over it, I’ll be glad when it’s over and done with. I just pray to god that Deschamps applies some common sense and realises that a shattered Giroud might not be a better alternative than a fresh Benzema for the 2nd leg. But it is Deschamps so I won’t hold my breath.

Sajit

Now if only Giroud too could be rested,,

#LOL

Wenger Out!!! lol

deano

Nice of Kos to decide he needed a rest. Good lad.

Sanjeev

Hopefully Jack comes through the Germany game OK. Giroud continues to be overworked, playing 70 mins and will likely get 60-90 mins again in the return leg.

But Nice rest for many regulars who need it: Woj, Kos, Mert, Tom, Ozil, Ramsey, Sagna, Gibbs, Arteta, and Flamini.

Hope to see Theo back against the Saints and Poldi in December maybe.

The Ox should get going in the new year and play a part in the run-in.

KingKolo

Look out for France going out, and Koscielny getting panned throughout France…form could suffer. Can’t remember did Ginola ever recover?!

Arsene's sidekick

Honestly it depends on which France turns up next leg. Ukraine could still get a 4-1 thrashing.

fourofdem

easy.

they’ve got Giroud uo front

remember?

Already got the coat.

bazza

For us this is good Ozil resting but truth be known they can beat england without him lucky us.

heroldgoon

My big beautiful giroud will get France over the line and to the world cup. not that i care or anything but i will be watching the WORLD CUP and would love to see giroud strut his stuff on the grandest stage….

i like how players are their own medics.
WILSHERE: “I wil be fine for saturday”
RAMSEY: “I will be okay for the weekend”

fire the medics fire them all!!

Rectum Spectrum

The deal was jack would play against chile but not againat germany to give him a break. Lets see how that works out. I mean, why rest a key player so he can have a strong year leading into the tournament when you’re own personal reputation as a manager is more Important to you anyway?! just like every england manager before. Wankers.

Rectum Spectrum

ogh and despite jack having a reported calf problem after the Chile game i see he’s been asked to train today. great.

gunner pundit

i want france to go through to the world cup but i want giroud rested. benzema is a world class striker why would not start. pogba matuidi dm nasri valbuena ribery am benzema upfront should be able to beat ukraine 3-0 .

Previgo

Rosicky to be offered an extension! Best news of what’s already a very Lowkey week without EPL games at the weekend. If he continues with his current form and fitness then he can easily surpass the 25 match mark, I would have loved to hand him a 2-year extension but I think the club wants to keep their options well open, Rosicky is not pushing for a move and would likely stay if he is offered another 1-year extension in the future. I also think he should consider his international career, he is 33 and taking into consideration his injury… Read more »

Y’all seen what happened to Khedira?

He did his ACL in all for a dumb pointless friendly.

heroldgoon

France suffer from EGOCENTRISM and mild lesbianism atm. untill they discover their team spirit they deserve whats comin to them.

though for lolo, girouds sake i hope they make it through.

arsefanaticul

Starving for some premiership actions, senseless friendlies killing me..

masterofthegoonaverse

This interlull without even the mild attraction of WC qualifiers has been a complete bore.

BH

Arsenal players these days are getting really good at worming their way out of these pointless friendlies, eh?
