Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Hull and there’s some bad news as Bacary Sagna misses the game with a tight hamstring.
Carl Jenkinson is in line for his first start since the Capital One Cup defeat to Chelse on October 29th.
The manager also hinted that he would have to rotate his squad in order to avoid further aches and strains, saying, “I rotate considering the level of fatigue. We have some indications – my eyes, some objective data…”
And he’s not taking the opposition lightly after their weekend triumph over the Mugsmashers.
“Hull have done very well and they have nothing to lose when they come to us,” said Wenger. “We have a warning from the Liverpool game.”
Meanwhile, the visitors have no injury worries of their own but will be without centre-half Curtis Davies who is suspended.

Not ideal to say the least
Perhaps the silver lining is they can get of their arses and offer him a new contract while he’s not busy being awesome.
Perhaps.
Yes, new contracts are most likely to be discussed when a 30 year old RB is out with a hamstring strain.
(Sagna should have been signed up ages ago. it boggles mind why Arsene hasn’t yet)
Perhaps Sagna himself has other plans?
Perhaps he feels he needs a raise after giving so much to the club all this years but the club isnt willing due to his age and or durability.
Considering that Sagna even refuses to acknowledge Assebayor out of loyalty to Arsenal I find it difficult to believe he would pull a Walcott. As much as I love watching Walcott outpace someone from 15 yards behind them, that was a twat move last year. And Sagna is obviously not a twat, unlike some chinle$$ bastard. Revel in this flawless speculative logic and concur with me… 😐
Ok.
Get well soon Bac!!
Carl Jenk is on
A bit worrying that despite his enthusiasm. Right back is an area we need good backup for.
the last couple of games he has played, he looked a bit off. I hope he returns to good form tomorrow.
don’t know why the above comment would be downed, Lenny has been shit in most matches that he has played.
He has good attributes eg his energy, enthusiasm & forward play but as an out& out defender, he leaves something to be desired especially his heading.
He would have been rested any way,Hull are shit.Big deal they beat Liverpool there shit too.
You arrogant twat. We aint winning the league with that attitude!
Thankfully Johnny is unlikely to be playing tomorrow night.
If he shows up he might just get a spot ahead of Bendtner.
What’s with the name calling,I’m reporting you to the internet police.
Bake him away, toys.
I’ve been teasing em,starving em,singing out of tune,me mo my mae.
to be honest, I’m not sure that Johnnycakes’ attitude will have any effect on whether we win the league or not.
Im certain it wont 🙂
cant we play kos at rb and have verm in the centre. i dont doubtbjenkys heart only the reach of his legs
“Worst Idea Ever”
I’d rather play Flamini at RB against Everton/Napoli/City if Sagna can’t make it. Jenko is OK against Hull though
thats an option..i didnt.think of…tho flaminis a.bit.short on pace compared to before…
Actually he is faster.
If you don’t play Carl against Hull at home, what is the point of having him in the squad?
Noooo. Jenko gonna be too rusty. I hope he makes a quick recovery for Everton at the weekend
Rusty? Not really. Jenko’s been busy with the reserves or is under 21s!
Curtis Davies is a big miss for Hull, I really like him, good hard-working player.
He’s certainly quite tall
I remember he was the answer to all our transfer-loving prayers about six or seven seasons ago.
the big question is; for how long will he be unavailable? oh Bac…
good!!!!
oups ? wtf happen there.i was doing a reply to Henners who say curtis davies was good
Hope he’s Bac for the City & Chelsea game!!
..and the Everton game on Saturday and the Napoli game too?
I feel Kos should be rested and Vermaelen should start. If the captain can’t play against Hull @ the Emirates, then he won’t play unless we have injuries.
Bac injured… surely a result of the Abou Sagna face swap!
HAHA very nice, I’d buy you a drink if I could.
Oh shite lets hope Jenkinson doesn’t have to head anything clear or back or anything.
Jenkinson is solid with the ball at his feet. My favourite of Ramsey’s goals so far this season was his smashing half-volley against Sunderland, which came from a beautiful Jenkinson cross. It’s the clearance of awkwardly-spinning balls with his head which tend to cause problems (Chelsea) but hopefully he’s learnt his lesson. Anyways, Jenkinson getting us ejaculated from the COC may have been a blessing in disguise. Chelsea have to travel to Sunderland for the COC quarterfinal on Dec 17 before visiting the Emirates on Dec 23. In contrast, Arsenal have got 9 days rest after Man City on Dec… Read more »
I’m pretty sure it’s giroud who gets us ejaculated
That is a big big lose!! Bac has been one of our most consistent player since the season started. Gutted for this news. Hope Carl steps up and gives the best performance of his life while the Bac is out.
Hopefully whatever madness beset the corporal in the Chelsea game was temporary. He was quality when he got an extended run in the team last season and by the time Sagna came back, I didn’t actually want Jenko taken out.
Probably the result of PTSD from the Great War. Hopefully he’s been given enough shock therapy to move him past it.
My last post was seriously truncated. I added the fact that we should have enough for them. 3 points
you got to give Carl a brake if bac gets injuried and wenger plays kos right back that will kill he’s confidence. You should give Thomas a run out he still a good defender. still should turn over hull anyway .
We had a handbrake that might work, but Wenger won’t like it…
Arsenal have a Bac problem…
*did I bring a coat?*
We’ll be fine with Jenks. Hopefully. Think people unfairly ‘wrote him off’ after the huge error against Chelsea. Hopefully his career follows the path of the previous fan ‘write offs’ like Per and Ramsey.
Came here to write this. Will instead give you thumbs up like I were in some sort of tacky political gimmick.
People also wrote Sagna off after huge errors at MU and generally looking off the pace last season.
Sure the Lance Corporal will work his bollocks off to get that extra stripe back.
My only worry with the Jenk is that he is full of youthful beans and tries to get up the pitch too often … Bac is not driven by beans … hence he’s been in the right place most of this season But apart from that can people please stop blaming the Corporal for the Chelsea header … Jack clearly shouted to him to leave it to him … Jenks got confused cos he’s only new, bless him and hence an only slightly soft header … a game of inches and those inches were due to Jack being all “I’m… Read more »
I have it on good authority that Bacary is the least flatulent man on the team bus, so that much is agreed upon.
Hope Bac isn’t out for long. I was thinking if we have Flamini playing in front of the Corporal barking orders at him alongside Arteta – who tends to cover the left side more – we should be ok.
I don’t have any idea about what is necessary to announce at a press conference in the middle of a busy period, but why didn’t Arsene just keep news on Sagna and say that Sagna is fine and we would just want to rotate the squad. Arsenal is very much at the centre of the title picture. Eyes are on us. Bad news can cause concerns in our own supporters, which is palpable and can effect the team performance too, and also encourage oppositions to try new ideas to exploit our self-admitted weaknesses. Once we show our weaknesses, bad ref… Read more »
I think most Gooners would rather know a player is injured than be lied to.
Fair enough.
However, the truth might well be that Sagna was fine. Arsene did not want to send out a message of complacency. What he wanted to stress was that Hull’s dangerous and we would be forced to rotate the squad.
Then again, it’s always half the truth.
This is Arsenal, not Mother Russia comrade.
What happens if Sagna misses the Everton game? More rotation with severe consequences for any naysayers?
“There are no injuries. Diaby has a slight cold. Fabregas will be back for the run in. Henry is really only 28 and will resign in January. The league will award us three points for Giroud being so handsome. Finally, Jenkinson is already the second best right back in the league.”
NOOO! I think the 2nd signing we need is a solid right back. I think we should send Carl out on loan too (probably in the summer after we sign another 3rd string RB)…he may be great one day, but we are playing at too high a level to have him heading balls to the other striker’s feet. Let him make some of those mistakes at another squad and come back a more complete player. Solid backup at right back also makes us a bit deeper at center back—Sagna is the 4th choice CB right now, which is fine, but… Read more »
Jenks has to sort out his heading of the ball….I’m sure Hull will try to exploit how weak he is in the air.
He’s not weak in the air. He’s actually a very tall, and strong player. He will probably finish his career as a very good center back.
I was talking to a mate last night and said I’d rest Sagna anyway. Jenkinson is more than capable. My team: Szcz, Jenkinson, Kos, Vermalean, Monreal, Flamini, Wilshere, Rosicky, Cazorla, Gnabry, Theo I don’t think that team disrespects Hull at all. Monreal may want more starts but at least he’s getting games, Giroud needs a rest so Theo up front is better than Bendtner. Gotta say I’d like to see more of Vermalean, whenever he has played since being dropped I think he has done well. As a “third choice” centre back could we honestly do much more better? One… Read more »
Nice line up. I would be happy with that and it would give a nice bit of the old rotation.
I wouldn’t be surprised to find out tomorrow that Ramsey, Giroud and Ozil are starting though!
Changing 3 of the back 4 is verging on suicidal. Sagna must miss, so in comes Jenks. Gibbs, Kos and BFG must stay for continuity. Monreal can come in for Gibbs if he needs a rest against Everton, it’s much more like for like.
And as much as we would all like to see Vermalean have a run out and find some/maintain some match sharpness, the centre backs really shouldn’t need a rest. If anything, Kos can go out at some point and Vermalean can come in, but BFG must stay if fit and sharp.
I think Jenko is getting a lot of unwarranted stick for his error in the Chelsea match. I mean even Sagna has been prone to the occasional error but its part and parcel of the game. He ll learn from it. And we ll probably have Flamini to keep him in check so we ought to be fine. What’s the purpose of having back up if you are not going to rotate?
Why the Park-Chu-Young would you have players that you don’t use!
It’s the last thing people remember him doing, so therefore he is going to be tainted by it until he does something almost as memorable but in a positive way. Like headbutt Steve Bruce, score a bicycle kick off of Huddlestone’s arse, and throw pizza at Mike Dean all at the same time.
Jenk Crosses better than Sagna.Walcott’ll have to help him out with covering their flank.
