Wilshere: Theo’s a legend now

Jack Wilshere says Theo Walcott’s gesture to Sp*rs fans as he was carried from the pitch during the 2-0 FA Cup win will have propelled him into the Arsenal hall of fame.

The fans of that small club didn’t take kindly to being reminded of a scoreline they were well and truly aware of already, and Wilshere says it’ll enhance the winger’s reputation even further.

Referencing his own recent crowd gesture, Jack said, “Theo’s a bit smarter than me, I suppose, but I think the Spurs fans were giving him a bit of stick.

“He’ll be an Arsenal legend now. They were giving it to him and he’s given a little bit back. People have got to look at it as banter. The Arsenal fans will love that. They love Theo and this is only going to help him.”

On a more serious note, the midfielder was glad of the win against the old enemy, for the fans and for the team who can now take a bit of rest before they face Aston Villa in the Premier League.

We know these games are massive for the fans and we always seem to come out on top at the Emirates,” he said.

“We’ve a spell now where it’s only one game a week and we’re not used to that this season, when we’ve been playing every three days. It’s going to help us.

“We’ve quite a good squad now we’ve been able to rotate in midfield and that’s helping us. We know what we can do. We’ve got great character in this squad and great team spirit.”

Perfect January. Maybe :o)

Moyes Sizlak

I’ll admit I’ve shamelessly leeched off the top comment to have my two cents. Gutted he’s out, not least cause I’ve just put him in my fantasy team! Silver lining could be an opportunity to give Gnabry a run though. Ox not far away either. Theo really looked sharp at CF so it’s a bit more shit given that we keep losing our strikers all at once. On another note, I know this ain’t FIFA but for the sterner tests how about Özil starting on the right and Santi in the middle, allowing us 2 DM’s with no loss of… Read more »

GoonaDownUnder

I agree towards theo looking good at CF – But against teams like Aston Villa, we need a stronger forward on the ball.

I think you have a good idea with the Mesut/Santi idea though. I do prefer Santi through the guts myself.

Indonesian Gooner

Yeah Jack, everybody’s a legend. Who next, Oleg Luhzny?

Good Omens

Long has the fabric of the Legend of the Luzhny been interwoven through the Arsenal saga’s until his untimely demise; his soul being devoured by the twin wolves of svartland , the dread Mol & Ineux.

Theo’s out for a month apparently… shame, he’s been great since returning. If he’s out for a month, it’s not a bad image to go out on, made me laugh

Spurs stiffed. Man United dumped out. Big Sam humiliated by Forest. Such a nice weekend.

not to mention Man City having a nice replay against the Venky boys to go with their two legged milk cup semi

Arsenalizer

I prayed for an upset for at least one of the big teams yesterday, my prayers weren’t answered, Chelsea, Liverpool and Swansea all won.

Petit's Handbag

I know Arseblogger isn’t the biggest fan of young Fheo but I have to say, the sight of scarves been thrown at him like he was the Pope was a joy to behold.
Theo’s a smart lad, look at how he got the best possible deal last year, and if there was a frosty relationship between the fans and him…well it’s now gone.
He’s up there with the Santi’s & Tom’s now

North Bank Gooner

The contract “issue” led me to feel maybe TJ wasn’t a gooner through and through, and could maybe end up somewhere else, and I wouldn’t have cried.

His form since his return has been awesome, but that gesture has ensured him a spot in my heart forever.

FEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

no neck

i still cant celebrate anything till may….

weedwaker

Mate, whatever happens in May that game will be a highlife. You can say what you like about Theo but the guy gets it totally. Good skills.

It was not just the 2-0, it was the grin that did for me, he just looks so pleased.

Peter

All we wanted was to be competitive. We are now. Enjoy it

So David Moyes walks into a Turkey farm.

“You’ll be gone by the end of the week”……….Said a Turkey.

Big Chief from Antarctica

I loved the dramatic effect after making his gesture and once out of sight of those scums and entered the brotherly surroundings of Goonerdom, he put a scarf on the supporters threw at him. Cup still has magic.

Tottenham F.C have just disbanded their wee club after discovering they will never get out of Arsenals shadow.

Following this Tim Sherwood, a gooner will be at our next away game at Villa with his Arsenal scarf on….

We must be weary of Villa, after all they are playing for their 14th placed trophy.

Theo will be missed, expecially if TGSTEL and Giroud are out… Well we have Chubby Adkins, and Sanogo…

Sanjeev

Payback time against Villa.

gooner_expat

HFB is not injured anymore… was just suffering from a HFB virus.
The Welsh Jesus should be cured soon enough,
Ozil is done with his winter break.
Not to mention Serge ‘ALANS’ Gnabry, and Alex ‘LANS’ Chamberlain should be in contention as well!

Basically just missing TGSTEL, and Theo ‘peace-fist’ Walcott.

Bring on Villa…the best away record is going to get bettta! COYG!

I can’t wait… hopefully Anthony Taylor won’t be reffing this one

feel free to finish that

I dont mind Spurs i generally enjoy our rivalry with them and always look farward to the next one I even enjoy their blog cause theres no rating system people are never afraid to speak their minds because of that. Example of a amazing yet sad post. In response to some 50 year old bloke at WHL who was actually getting hurt by the crowd who were throwing coins at theo yes he a spurs fan. know exactly where you’re coming from. I had a similar epiphany after Sol Campbell’s return to WHL with them. I had my ten year… Read more »

My point is here guys respect and enjoy our rivalry with Spurs no need for hate..

goonies

We 8 sp*rs mate.

Gus

Of course we can ‘hate’ them, but that doesn’t mean we have to descend to what you’ve written in your above post. It’s simple, just don’t be a dickhead.

BringBackSeaman

for all my loathing of those lilly white asshats.. I agree.. Arsenal’s premier league fixture list would be a little less rich if Tottenham weren’t around.

Mind you, St totteringhams day would offically be the first day of the season 🙂 so there is a plus

Le Jaded Handbreak

I know everyone is sort of over the comparisons of Theo and Henry… but that is definitely something the frenchy would do! It’s about time someone wiped the rightful Arsenal arrogance all over the smug faces of the sp*rs “supporters.” Well in THEO! THEO! THEO!

GoonerPost

He should have followed up the ‘2-0’ gesture with ‘1-1’. That would have been the ‘Sugar’ on top!!.

Oh yes

1-1 with his middle finger from both hands!

Thierry Walcott

We love explaining don’t we…

The Playmaker

So, Theo can show the score, but Jack can’t show our league position?

Le Jaded Handbreak

This might be the best comment I’ve ever read on arseblog, I’m in tears I’m laughing so hard

SACKWENGA

Great username . Made me chuckle.

Theo & Bendtner out injured for a month is a blessing in disguise. Since there’s no big games this month, we will not be overly affected by their absence and Wenger will also be forced to buy a striker. So we can enter Feb with a fit bendtner & theo and a good back-up striker to giroud.

gooner_expat

That doesnt make much sense.

If this is true – “Since there’s no big games this month, we will not be overly affected by their absence”, then this is definitely NOT going to happen – “Wenger will also be forced to buy a striker”. In fact that what Wenger might even do…oh only one month, I have HFB, and German Thor, and Welsh Jesus…don’t need new strikers!

Rad Carrot

Let’s just fuck up the Villa. Then at least we’ve only lost to the shitty macs and their salford step brothers. Let’s face it – we’re not getting any major reinforcements in January, but let’s FUCKING go for it as much as we can!

Hey Blogs, I’m not sure where to put this, so I’ll just leave it here. Tonight when I opened up Arseblog News on my iPhone, I got attacked by what seems to be the latest ad company ploy. It appears that some sites now forcibly open my App Store trying to get me to download some random app and pull me away from the content of your blog. If you could look into what’s going on with it, I would be very grateful because this is quite distracting and I personally think its introduction to the advertising space is abhorrent.… Read more »

I believe that Twitter have faced exactly the same problem this morning with intrusive apps. They are looking into it too. You’re not alone!

Goonerlicious

Same happened on my iPad, I immediately closed the App Store once it launched. The name had casino in it.

I fully appreciate the fact that advertising helps so many sites on the internet, including this one. If I find a site that I like, I usually try to let it through my Adblock software. However, as you said, it’s beyond frustrating when it starts to take control of your device. Thanks so much for answering!

It’s hard because it doesn’t even seem to show a URL when it happens. And in this particular instance, I didn’t wait to see which App it opened, but previous times it has taken me to Candy Crush Sags.

Timmy Oke

Another great performance. Solid defensive play and exciting offensive play. Finally, our team is formidable, compact and competitive. #COYG

I still giggle whenever i see that photo

Against the enemy we could not lose.

Dr jack

Am a gunner till I die. Not even 10 years without a trophy can change that cos my team plays the best football. My happiness is that now we can both score and defend at the same time…that’s what it takes to be on top.

In terms of hating T*ttenham, I hate them because it’s funny. Which is a far cry from throwing bricks at them.

Hate can be a good thing. Because it’s taught me how to love taking the piss out of T*ttenham.

santori

Yeah media can’t let go of that. None of those tin pot trophies some of the smaller clubs have won would get you CL footy (4th spot is still better than a league cup) But titles are where we want to be and the likes of Liverpool haven’t had one since the PL started. Spurs haven’t had one since the days of black and white TV. City have only got one since 1968. United don’t look likely to get one. What’s the big deal? if we go by precedence, Liverpool and Spurs according to the media should have no chance… Read more »

10 years without a trophy ? Sure we won the fa cup in 2005 ya pillock

santori

Yeah we better win that FA for Theo.

I suspect though even if we win the FA this season alone, the media pack will still bleat on about how it isn’t good enough.

Double anyone?:D

santori

Legend.

had he known he was going to be out for 6, he should have reversed the sign to the Spuds. 😀
