Olivier Giroud says he’s aiming to make a fresh start at Arsenal after holding talks with Arsene Wenger about his off field ‘problems’.
The French international is reported to have besmirched his handsomeness indulging in less than gentlemanly behaviour betwixt non-marital bed sheets, although it’s his breaking of the club’s pre-match rules which has had the BFG rattling his fine jar like a sabre.
Claiming to have put the matter to…erm…bed, the striker says he’s used football as a release from the grubby headlines.
“The manager’s support was very important for me,” he told L’Equipe.
“I was able to discuss things with him. It’s good that there was a dialogue. Now I want to move on and make a fresh start.
“There were some things which were true, some things which were false. But I used the pitch as a release. I’m convinced that everything that’s happened recently will make me stronger.”
Ostensibly dropped in favour of Yaya Sanogo for the visits of Liverpool and Bayern Munich last month, Giroud has reacted well netting four times in his last three games to take his season’s tally to 18.

Giroud is really just a very very average striker. I dare say the only reason he has the number of goals he has is because of the top class midfield we have. A Suarez up front for us would devastate any team.

Eh, sorry but I think not. Giroud no more belongs in that company than TGSTEL or Chamakh. It is not his fault, but he simply does not make the Arsenal grade. He simply isn’t good enough. This is a second tier striker, good enough for second tier fixtures.

Well if he can perform consistently like he did vs Everton, then thats great. But if the rest of the season is the blueprint, then we are in for another 3-5 bad or horrible games from Giroud until he suddenly delivers another stellar performance.
