Mathieu Flamini says the players are well aware of how difficult their upcoming schedule is, but that they’re only thinking about today’s North London derby clash against Sp*rs.
With just 10 games left to play in the Premier League this season, the midfielder has admitted it’s a sprint to the finish, but has urged his teammates to keep their concentration and keep taking it one game at a time.
“It’s important now to focus on Tottenham and not to look at the other games because it’s a sprint,” he told Arsenal Player. “We have a few more games to come which are not easy because Chelsea and Manchester City are also fighting for the title.
“But if we focus on Tottenham, play our football and win the challenges, it will be a great achievement for us and then we’ll have time to think about the other games.
“It’s an important game because we feel the pressure, we know it’s a derby, it’s important for the club, for the players and especially for the fans. It’s the kind of game you definitely want to win.
“It’s like a huge emotion when you have the opportunity to win, so we’ll do everything to win this game.”
Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger has told his team to look beyond the significance of this game from a local derby point of view and remember what it means in the context of their overall campaign.
“I must say as well that this derby is especially important for our Premier League position,” said the manager. “And that has an even bigger meaning for me.
“We have worked so hard that now we want to transform that into a super successful season. We are in a strong position so, beyond even the derby, is the importance of this game in the Premier League for us.”

well its not as easy as it sounds. The fact that they have disgraced themselves against chelsea and humiliated again by Benfica means they will be up for it even more. but lets hope it works in our favor and piles pressure upon them that they wont be able to cope. you think keeping possession is a bad thing? We have our fair share of counter attacks which are devastatingly good. But if there is no way through, you keep the ball until something opens up. you don’t think other top teams “indulge in a passing frenzy”? look at teams like Bayern or Barcelona. Ok, we are lacking a little in firepower, but that doesn’t mean we should pass any less.

Tottenham is a talented team, but they’ve been mismanaged and are very lucky to be sitting fifth, considering they have a goal differential of zero. Only an outstanding individual effort from someone like Townsend or Eriksen could pull them through, because they’ve lost confidence in the coach and each other.
