Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Kieran Gibbs and Aaron Ramsey are both available for selection against Norwich and that Jack Wilshere could also play a part in the final Premier League game of the season.
“Ramsey is available again, Wilshere could be in the squad again. Gibbs will be back, Chamberlain will still be out,” the boss told press this morning.
Wilshere hasn’t played for the Gunners since the defeat away at Stoke City having fracturing his foot in a nasty collision with Denmark’s Daniel Agger while on international duty.
Although the boss has long stressed that the 22-year-old would be fit for the World Cup he’ll no doubt be pleased to be back in full training and in contention not just for England’s jaunt to Brazil but also the upcoming FA Cup final.
Kieran Gibbs has been struggling with a hamstring problem since coming on as a substitute in the semi-final at Wembley against Wigan but is now fully recovered, while Aaron Ramsey – rested on Sunday – is also set for a run-out at nearly relegated Norwich.
The only major worry is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is still struggling with a groin problem and will not take part.
Come on Alex, you can do it! Try and get on the bench for the fa cup final at least!
Sadly I’m starting to lose hope for the World Cup. Come on, OX!
How did ox get injured? Did I miss the game?
After the fa cup final! I think I’ll have to get a sachet of salt(Would be enough to get me through the transfer window) COYG!
Any news on Gnabry, guys?
In intensive training to become the best young player next season
Our favoured back four of Gibbs, Kos, Mert and Sagna. Our favoured midfield of Arteta, Ramsey and Ozil. I would love to have Szcz but regardless, I think silverware at Wembly is very, very likely!
I reckon Wenger will pick this team for the cup final – fabianski, Sagna, kos, mert, Monreal, Arteta, Ramsey, ozil, podolski, cazorla, giroud. I would be AMAZED if its any different. I would like Gibbs and ox in there to inject pace but considering lack of games recently I can’t c Wenger starting them.
Why not give a chance to bench player?arsenal already qualify for play off ucl
Because the last thing we want to do is lose momentum to a bottom of the league team, a game before the cup final.
Off subject but just noticed Frimpong been released by relegated Barnsley. How quick a player’s career can change.
SIGN HIM UP!
Yeah that’s a fall of epic proportions. But really, Frimmy is Premier League level in my opinion. Hasn’t had a good run of games so he’s still a bit raw. If i were a bottom half PL or any Championship team, I’d punt for him, no doubt about it!
i dont think it had to do with his ability more to do with his wages, if they are relegated it means they would have to balance the books and that means top earns have to leave
well he was signed for a 1year contract only and as they were relegated they are making change. i think frimpong is a good bet for a championship side. the only negative is his injuries.
Pfft, more like Frimpong released Barnsley
Great to have Ramsey back. Gibbs is important too. Although Monreal has improved with more game time – you could see in the Semi-final the difference Gibbs makes to us going forward.
Hopefully Ox gets back for the final, his work rate is one of the main reasons we even got to the final. He definitely would deserve a place on the starting line up. But let’s batter Norwich first then focus on the final! COYG!
I had a dream last night I was in some kind of souk and I went to up someone and showed them a little model of a bear, standing up holding a pot for honey, but the pot was empty. I said to the guy, “Look at this poor bear, look at his disappointed face.” “Do you know why he’s sad?” I asked And with that, I pulled from my pocked a small figure of a footballer with his arm raised, an old school style one, before those horrible big head caricature ones and I said “Because Robin Van Persie… Read more »
Are you by any chance related to Rambling Pete?
Nope, but I’ll take that as a compliment, although this dream ramble was bizarrely true. I’m not usually one for a dream ramble, I tend to find them tedious, but I once recall a gentleman by the name of Jeremy Birstwistle, an amenable sort of chap who had a bong eye, so you weren’t sure if he was looking at you or someone else in a group conversation. It always seemed rude to not maintain eye contact with him, just in case he was still talking to you. I used to visit him at the local garden centre where he… Read more »
Bit of an anti climax after your dream ramble. Thumbs down from me mate, learn to leave when you’re ahead.
can’t win em all.
And neither can Robin van Persie.
Let’s get a cleansheet boys! For Woj’s golden gloves!
I would hope that lots of players get a rest, Ramsey, Ozil, both CBs, Giroud, Cazorla, players we really need at Wembley; and couldn’t Fab play in this game rather than the final?
Szczesny wants golden glove.
COYG!!!
Can I just ask where has gnabry gone? He was tipped for this season to be his breakthrough, but barley seen him since Swansea.
Why on earth shouldn’t fabianski play the final?? Are you all drunk?? For me,he deserves it.i’ll be gutted to see him on the bench.
None of the big stars should play at Carrow Road.
I don’t want to see Per, Kos, Giroud, Ramsey, Ozil, Carzola, Sagna or any of the regular big names risked for Sunday’s meaningless friendly. Actually, this is a perfect game for Diaby to make a comeback (and then get injured in after 10 minutes). Jenkinson, Sanogoals and maybe Rosicky must all be in the starting line-up.
It doesn’t matter who is in goal on Sunday or next Saturday: Fabianski is a very good number two who won’t let us down.
I would like to see flappy handski in goal for the final. His penalty shoot out saves helped us get there in the first place.
Fabianski must play in the final
I believe the deal is likely Szsc for league games (and CL)
Fabianski for cups.
So he should play in the finals.
Maybe this is an effort on the part of Wenger to keep both keepers happy and convince Fabianski to stay on.
I certainly hope so cos we have to worry about CB cover and RB in addition to adding up top this summer.
When is Walcot due back to full training? I hope we get some awesome new players in as cover for all the injuries we’ll be having next season.
We have enough cover this season except for up top. If you consider a 23 man squad, we have as much depth in all other depts as City. You cannot legislate for too many injuries in one critical spot. On the other hand we have been fortunate in other parts of the team : 1) Striker, as lightweight as our numbers are here (in terms of quality), the one striker we have in Giroud has been indestructable. YOu cannot fault Wenger here for buying injury prone.;) 2) CDM – Both Arteta and Flamini have taken turns and it has worked… Read more »
I don’t see the point in risking Ramsey or Gibbs.
Whilst it would be good to finish with 79 points, this game should be really for the reserves IMO for want of risk to injury in lieu of FA cup.
Jenkinson… Koscielny…Vermaelen… Monreal
…………..Flamini………Kallstrom……………..
Ozil………………Rosicky………………Podolski
………………….Sanogo……………………….
Maybe a run out for Jack (Ozil) and Diaby (kallstrom) at the end.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Bellerin either in midfield.
The last thing we want to do is lose our winning momentum before the final. For us to go to Wembley with five wins out of five under our belt will be a massive psychological boost, and another year of Champions League qualification will help too. But despite this game against Norwich having no league impact, it’s still an important and must-win game and I hope Wenger realises this.
For those you think Szcz should play in the final cos Fabs leaving, on that basis should Jenkinson play instead of Sagna?
Long conversation on Match of the day 2 extra about whether it should be Cole, Flanagan or Shaw going to the World Cup….. No mention of Gibbs, even by Keown. A real shame
