Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal will be active in the January transfer market by claiming he won’t buy anybody if all his players are fit.
The Gunners’ injury list currently includes David Ospina, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Isaac Hayden, Mikel Arteta, Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Abou Diaby, Theo Walcott and Serge Gnabry, while Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud have already missed significant chunks of the season. It is January in 19 days.
Speaking to the press ahead of Arsenal’s game with Newcastle the Frenchman reflected that he’d not really need to splash the cash in the New Year if his squad could avoid injury.
“If everybody’s fit, we don’t need to go into the transfer market.”
Arseblog News didn’t see him say this in person, but we’re going to assume he did so with a massive grin on his face and knowing look that said: “If you boo me at the train station I’m going to troll the f*ck out of you in the newspapers.”
Naturally the above quote will be taken literally by many. Which will be fun to watch.

Rambo and Koscielny are too big losses. It will mean the Ox moving into central midfield I guess and could mean the return of Podolski. Or we could play Alexis, Giroud and Welbeck together again as a front 3 ala WBA.

I did know nthing about Lucas Silva, then I noticed he was on my scouting list on PES and I can safely say that he would be a good signing but I’ve only just got promoted to the Prmeiership so Watford won’t be competing with us for his signature. Good news all round.

I don’t think a DM is necessary if we have someone in mind for the Summer (wasn’t Rabiot out of contract then? if he really does want to come here then chuck a few quid at PSG now), then I’d be happy to wait but surely we must be going for a CB?

With Jack’s long term injury (and the fact he’s not defensive), Arteta’s persistent injuries, and Flamini’s volatility, I think it is necessary. Take your point though, if the target we have lined up won’t move until the summer.

You do realize that we are competing with many other clubs for quality players don’t you? And we compete at a disadvantage due to our debt from the stadium shift.
The debt is managed and planned for, as are transfer funds…the money’s there for us to compete.
