According to L’Equipe, the French Football Federation are planning a tribute to Arsenal legends Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira ahead of Les Bleus friendly game with Brazil in March.
The ‘Invincible’ duo, along with Marcel Desailly, will be feted in a ceremony on the pitch at the Stade de France as thanks for their contribution at international level.
The eponymous Sport Witness provide the following translation of quotes from FFF president, Noel Le Graet: “We will honour before the France versus Brazil game players who have over 100 selections. Thierry Henry, Marcel Desailly and Patrick Vieira will be there.
“All will be at the Stade de France. It is likely that Didier (Deschamps) will have lunch with his team. There will be a ceremony before the game and they will obviously go on the field. Their presence is confirmed.”
Henry and Vieira both played significant parts in their country’s victories at the 1998 World Cup and the European Championships two years later.
It had originally been suggested that Henry, who called time on his playing career at the end of last year, might actually play against Brazil; an idea backed by Arsene Wenger.
That plan though appears to have been quashed by the FFF who are eager for Didier Deschamps to use the high profile fixture to properly prepare his side for EURO 2016.
Yawn.
Umm, the “yawn” was for the slow news day, not the honor for two of Arse’s finest.
Sheesh people!
I thought Vieira was at Citeh
And I thought Thierry was at Sky. /s
It’ll be a shame if they don’t honour Pires along with the Henry and Viera. It’s invincible trio, not a duo!
As the FFF state, they’re honouring players who featured over 100 times for France. Robert, while obviously esteemed, has only 79 to his name.
hazy memory but wasn’t that something to do with his fecking star sign? wasn’t there a france manager who selected players using bleedin’ astrology?
apologies if i have remembered incorrectly
that was raymond domenech. Wouldnt pick scorpios i think.
I was never selected because I am a scorpio as well : (
Also I am not French. And not very good at football. And I was born in 1989 so I was a kid. Bobby and I got screwed…
They should have honoured Pires on Quality not Quantity
F4F7F14… The Holy Trinity!
Don’t read it then..
Give honour to whom honour is due.
What of Arsene Wenger who has provided more players for the national team in the past 18 years than any coach, living or dead.
Players like Flamini, Koscielny, Diaby, Anelka, Clichy, Nasri, Giroud and some more made their debut as Arsenal players.
Not forgetting Sagna, as well as Petit and Thuram at Monaco
Also not forgetting Sylvain Wiltord, Jeremy Aliadiere, Sebastian Squillaci and uhhhhhh… Pascal Cygan. *barrel scraping noise*
Both legends for Arsenal. Though Thierry has edged ahead in legend status since stopping playing.
I disagree, Henry was already a legend whilst at Highbury….and fickle fans have blanked Viera bc he now works at Citeh, despite leaving Arsenal to play in another country, rather than a rival team…ridiculous, imo.
Cygan?
And Sylvestre surely?
Squillaci?
There is a pattern emerging, French centre backs starting with a sss sound are rubbish.
They are happy to use their talent to further their country’s standing but to them (fff fucking fat fuckwits) they are a bunch of foreigners who are not worthy. Well they are worthy at the Republic of Arsenal, and they are honoured (almost every week for Thierry) by the fans.

Christ! We really have entered the fucking twilight zone now.
It’s difficult to say but I can barely look at Vieira now. It happened the day he took the city job. It’s impossible for me to believe a role of similair stature was not made available for him at Arsenal. He decided to choose City.
Sadly, for me. He has been exiled from my devotion and idolisation. He now languishes somewhere between snide and megacunt.
his cash might be blue, but his heart will always be Red and white !!1
He never played in the EPL with another team; and whilst with the mighty Gunners he gave his ALL. Your attitude is more traitorous than his, imo.
Only one Gilles Grimandi!!
Look at Jonathan Moss looking straight at Ivanovic strangling McCarthy. And did nothing about it.

This is what we’ve come to expect from the greatest league in the world.
Anyone know if Arsenal are planning a testimonial for Titi? Promised the missus we will be at the Emirates to watch it.
Titi’s? Great to watch, not surprised you want to take your wife up the Arse, hope Coq performs well.
Any other innuendo I’ve missed?
Is Thuram being honoured? More than 100 caps I think and a great player and fine bloke. They’d not have got to the World Cup final without him.
Blogs, with all due respect, Vieira didn’t play a significant part in 98. He played a dead rubber game vs Denmark and came on for the last 15 mins in the final.
