Serge Gnabs a goal for U21s

Almost forgotten man Serge Gnabry, took another step towards full fitness with a run out, and a goal, for the Arsenal U21s today.

Away at Bolton, the German scored the Gunners third in a 3-1 win – you can read a full report of the game on the official site here.

After some eye-catching performances last season, which helped him garner 14 appearances and one goal, Gnabry found himself sidelined by a serious knee injury, and suffered a set-back in his recuperation earlier on in this campaign.

He’s unlikely to feature between now and the end of May as Arsenal look to secure 2nd place, and next season may see him go out on loan to aid his development, but it’s a positive thing to see such a highly regarded young talent back in the shirt.

Meanwhile, something else Arsenal related happened today and this paragraph would contain references to it, and some more detail, if we knew exactly what it was but we’ve been distracted so you’ll just have to figure it out for yourselves.

He’s back, and he’s got the fabled Alex song barnet.

i prefer to think it’s his own homage to another winger he desires to emulate. Go on lad, score against United. Make Freddie proud.

Anyone at the match and saw how well he is playing? He had huge potential before his injury so would be very interesting.

Jamie Carragher was infesting the area. Probably trying to steal one of our replica premier league trophies so he can put one in the Liverpool FC museum.

I really like Gnabry. Hope he makes it. He’s a really exciting player. Would be great to see him on loan to a Prem side next season. Somewhere like Leicester or one of the newly promoted sides would be good for him. They tend to be hard working and lacking that bit of magic and he’s the sort of player that might provide it.

If Walcott should leave, we have plenty of pace in Ox, Alexis, Gnabry and Campbell Gnabry (and Campbell) should be vying for one more spot out wide. However we would do ourselves grave injustice (again) if we do not reinforce from market in this area. Probably we won’t need to worry about pace rather we will benefit more from a technical player with good feet and a bit of craftiness. Someone like a Dybala or Lacazette who can also play up top if need be. Gnabry will also be vying with the precocious Akpom for a spot. Campbell will likely… Read more »

He’s also bulked up a bit.

Akpom has also grown taller likely around 6 ft now.

Both should get a chance to shine in pre-season and in the lesser games at start of season.
