Debuchy, Gibbs, Giroud and perhaps even Ox and Arteta all out there with something to prove, let’s hope it leads to some goals.

Dr Funke

Looking forward to some explosive play on the wings!

Smits Mckey

Especially since we’re not going to have an explosive Coq in there this match..

Crew

We will finally see if Arteta is indeed a good enough back up for Coq. I like the lineup. Pace on both wings, Gabriel getting an extended run and Ospina finally getting a game.

Gooneron

COYG!!!….. Had missed ooooooospina!

D

Good to see Wenger rotating. Big nights for Debuchy, Gibbs and Arteta.

DialSquareGoon

Perfest selection in my view. Strong team with key players rested for Chelsea.

Wenger has a large Coq

Still feel the same way?

kafka

but two hours later you’re feeling sorry for some players, they should get out while they can? Or did I mistake you for someone else (honest question, sorry if I did).

Third Plebeian

Agreed. It also saves Walcott for Chelsea…he loves scoring against Chelsea.

gooner

Giroud hatrick on the way

Mein Berkampf

Oops

Up the mighty Arse

Hope you didn’t put money on that.

Stillmatic

Bloody hell, that’s a lot of changes.
That’s….. brilliant.

I’ve always said for years now, Wenger’s lack of rotation was a big factor in our muscular injuries. People may worry about the changes, but doing this keeps our players fresh. You simply can’t play your starting 11 every time. Good on Wenger for trusting his squad.

Only one that worries me if a Santi-Arteta partnership. Too similar imo. Would’ve preferred an Arteta-Rambo.

Awesomesauce

True, but to be fair, this is the first year in a long time that we can look at pretty much every position and potentially argue there are two or more legitimate candidates for starting roles. Additionally, even with talented players, it can be a tricky task to change too many people in a team and expect no drop off in performance, simply due to the form achieved only through playing regularly with each other in actual games.

Stillmatic

I also finally get to see both Sánchez and Oz on our flanks.

Someone's Something

If they can replicate their performances against Man City and Man Utd from last season then we’re in for a real treat.

Ferngunner

Justice for Oooooooooo….spina!

Essy baba

Let do to them what we do best which is winning games. Lets bring back 3 point home and top this group.COYG.

poly

Will be interesting to see if Ospina remains the CL ‘keeper. expect him to play all the FA Cup and League Cup games but will he play against Bayern?

Maasai Gooner

Had really missed Gibbs.
***
Also waiting to see Arteta/Santi Combination.

Petit's Handbag

Why wouldn’t we play Cech? Not being bad to Ospina but we need to put out the best team we can fitness and performance level wise. This is not an easy game in the slightest.

Arsepedant

A very good line-up and a telling comment on just how much depth this team has, even with Wilshere, Rosicky, and Welbeck out long term, and Ramsey and Coquelin rested. That bench would be the core of a first XI for most other teams, and yet some of them are our third choices. I hope today some of the “Arteta has lost it” critics will be silenced by another fine performance from our captain. At some point, I’d also like to see both Walcott and Giroud on the pitch, because I think those two together are a recipe for goals.… Read more »

John C

What a great display of our strength!!!

Canuck Gunner

I’m ready to take an extra long lunch break from work to watch us take the 3 points in a big win!

I AM ARSENAL

Big game for Arteta

Penguin

Did a double take when I saw Eduardo in goal for his old team

Brent

Is Per still out?

GunnerDareMacedonia

I said on yesterdays post to mark my words that arteta will start but i’m not the manager and I was thumb down. OK, I’ll get my coat now.

SG14

Would of liked to see Joel start and let Alexis have a rest. Nevertheless COYG!

Toure Motors

Hope there isn’t a jolly Rog-er playing for Zagreb tonight…

babayacks

Opportunity for the guys on the bench to force their way into the manager’s thinking.

DuckandChips

It’s good to see Ospina in the side. But I’m not totally understanding Wenger’s rotation here.

won’t Ozil, Alexis, Santi and Kosielny be a bit tired on Saturday lunch time?
I’m just a bit anxious about facing a Chelsea side that have been getting beaten (of late). They’re going to be really fired up this Saturday (because it’s us they’re facing as well).
Sorry – not meaning to sound whiny and negative…I’m just really dreading/anticipating this Saturday’s game. It’ll be so fucking sweet if we beat them. Anyway…whatever. It’s Champion’s league now, innit?

Skinnyarse

Can’t watch it live, don’t have btsport ??

paul

You are lucky tonight…

precious

Good selection, bearing in mind tough match against chelsea on saturday.

Ferngunner

Giroud Stupid man playing with som much emotion like a girl and as if it is the final

Ref is a cunt pitch atrocious. I am done

Boilermaker Gunner

This is worse than west ham
Someone please tell me its a dream or its FIFA
For first goal, ospina wasn’t in a very good position. Didn’t make himself big and had to dive
And Gibbs has underwhelmed

Zippit

He made the save!

Paul

Thumbed you up by mistake – great save from Ospina!
HFB poor stuff but that’s what happens when you try for other strikers in front of the incumbent player!

Wenger C'est fini

You can’t mean that.

paul

Well Oli is clearly in a bad place…

paul

Well Oli is clearly in a bad place…Wrighty just agreed with me! 🙂

Ucigunner

I don’t agree. Ospina does well to save that so his positioning there, if improved some how, doesn’t change that ball getting saved differently . Ox didn’t track the run and left the man to run in cleanly. Unlucky goal overall but ox’s lack of awareness defensively once again has put us in a poor situation. Playing himself out of the team basically. Gibbs hasn’t done anything at all but most players haven’t done themselves any favors

broken heart of Dein

what must our strikers do to show some pessimist illusional fans (not-fans) that they are good enough, really!! cant they see nobody better was “available” of course. 😉

Zippit

Never a red.

mo974

awful first half.giroud out. look like he won’t come back in the first eleven soon.. and debuchy and gibbs were terrible. it’s the ox who was trying to defend in our box for their goal
! atrocious! hope we can get a point though.
COYG

BoilerMaker Gooner

On the contrary, he wanted to be in first 11 so bad that he earned a red and Theo had to come on . Humor or an attempt at it helps find some solace in today’s performance.

sauce

With two fucking yellows in 40mins for a striker, Giroud finally proves he’s the ‘world-class’ CF we’ve been looking for.. Way to go Ollie!

He's got no hair but we don't care...

Pathetic. It’s games like this that makes the likes of Alexis want to leave and find a club who are serious about winning the Champions League & EPL.

Viva Vivas

Joel and Theo, it’s time to step forward!

deji

we obviously do not need a deputy for coq and all our players are the best in the world and I have gold coming out of my ass

WengersBottle

Groundhog day.

paul

Everything is shit! :————-(
But you never know….

paul

I really am not enjoying Mr Keown!

Alexstratz

Ladies and gentlemen, the Arsenal.

McArsenal

Arsenal, arsenalling it up?

Well, that was entirely unexpected. Again.

Still, onwards and Cupwards.

BoilerMaker Gooner

Absolutely frustrated. Had a bright start – a big shoutout to the away fans who were more vocal than the home support. Giroud can’t complain although the second was a bit harsh. Did anyone notice Ox sold arteta short which led to a counter ? Thats his third ‘big’ mistake now ( and it was near Zagreb’s box!) . A bad day for everyone. I couldn’t understand why Cazorla played so deep (before the card) as Ozil was marked out of the game. Gibbs should have done better for the goal. Some ominous signs were there with Zagreb finding space… Read more »

Ken

Giroud sucks. His first yellow is just a testament to what a ridiculously emotional player he is. He needs to quit acting like a girl and react to every confrontation. He did this last season and cost us 3points after that he said arsenal coaches told not to react to too much stuff on the field and just play and worry about scoring he’s too concerned about so much things other than scoring His hair what he looks like when he misses big changes cause you know he always misses huge chances what he looks like when he does eventually… Read more »
