The FA have provided the full details of why Gabriel’s red card against Chelsea was overturned.
The long and the short of it is that they didn’t feel the flick out at Diego Costa was sufficient to be classified as violent conduct.
They said:
- The members of the Regulatory Commission were unanimous in their decision that this act should not have been considered to be more than a caution offence and therefore the Referee had made an obvious error in dismissing the Player from the field of play. The Commission concluded that the offence was aggressive but clearly fell short of violent conduct as defined by the laws of the game, namely that the act was absent excessive force or brutality.
So it looks like they’re saying the correct decision from the referee would have been a second yellow card and then a dismissal. The red card on the day wouldn’t have been avoided, but the three-game ban initially handed out would have.
Thus, the one-game ban he got for his improper conduct fit the crime. But of course that doesn’t take into account the fact Costa should have been blunderbussed in the helmet.
Or that Costa shouldn’t have been on the pitch…
And we should have been playing 11 v 10. And had a good chance of 3 points. If we follow it through to justice.
Hey guys, a good read, link from from 7am
How does a scientist decide if Mike Dean really is a wanker?
http://discoveringstatistics.blogspot.co.uk/
Will Ferrell for Fa President.
Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf!
Cunt Costa.
Cunsta
“The referee has made an obvious error” makes for beautiful reading.
True but we are still 3 points down potentially and not joint top of the league. Can’t they follow through their punishments?
Still hurting and disappointed….
Wouldn’t it be nice if Mike Dean apologised for his error (& incompetence)! He’s a miserable individual who I’ve never seen smile! He must be fun at parties!!
Just get him thinking of that Tottenham goal and he’ll start dancing again.
He wouldn’t have to if FA credit us with 3points
Are they saying the correct decision from the referee would have been a second yellow card and then a dismissal. I thought they were saying that he should not have been sent off at all up until i read blogs interpretation
Costa shouldn’t have been on the pitch for him to kick out at.
Enjoy the wonderful anti-Arsenal refereeing on Sunday v ManU.
Anthony Taylor is a Thundercunt.
Oh God please not Anthony Taylor… He IS the Thundercunt as the OP said Anyone remember the opening Day defeat to Villa 2 season ago… the was his handy work. He also Ref’d our home annihilation of Villa last season, but had villa kicked us round the park instead of tried to play football, he would have had decisions to make, undoubtedly with really poor outcomes. God I’m looking less forward to Sunday now than I was… Rooney, Fellani, Young and Taylor….. this is gunna be soul crushing to watch. On the plus side, he is suppose to have a… Read more »
Really? Anthony Taylor that baldy. God! we will be fortunate to get a draw..
I dread Sunday.
Taylor cannot make a decision.
The fuckwits know that all they have to do is kick and foul to disrupt…….Taylor will give the odd free, but no cards. There will be no protection.
A rudderless referee for a match that needs the opposite.
The fact that Mike Dean actually states that he saw Gabriel kick Costa and then claim it was a aggressive and violent incident which warrants a red card shows how inept he is as a referee. Or maybe he is just covering it up since it was a deliberate action to win Chelsea some points.
The latter without doubt. He wanted to throw a red otherwise he would have separated them and warned them it was coming.
I wish he’d given himself a red.
Mike Dean should not have been on the pitch
The fact that Mike Dean actually states that he saw Gabriel kick Costa proves that, he is not only inept but a LIAR. It was the fourth official that saw and informed him of the kicking.
No wonder Premier League referees are NOT selected to officiate in big European games and world cup matches.
maybe I’m not picking up what you’re putting down, but the video shows that mike Dean sees Gabriel’s kick.
Also, Howard Webb officiated both a Champions League final and a World Cup final.

Just Googled him.
“Anthony Taylor is an English professional football referee from Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. He supports non-League side Altrincham.”
And a Man U supporter too no doubt.
Really dont care about the reasons because we wont get back the points. what we really should be talking about is why our club keeps underperforming and the manager isnt held accountable. Some how he always manages to get out of pressure and make us believe that we could win something important. Mark my words we will beat man utd and we will feel like world beaters again only for the olympiacos incident to happen again down the road. wenger will always produce/bring in some world class players but cant push them that extra bit to win. fabregas, nasri, van… Read more »
Did Koscieony, Cazorla, Ozil and Alexis not win the FA Cup? Or is that now not a major competition? You make some good points but then shoot yourself in the foot by writing patent nonsense like this.
I’d like to shoot that cunt Dean in the foot oh and Costa too. Here’s a suggestion if AW isn’t going to wake up to the fact that clubs aren’t going to let us play the beautiful football we are capable of and sit deep and hit us on the break well then we supporters must do something to help. How about snipers in the floodlights? Just wait for the bemused look as strikers stop in mid run as they become aware of the red dot in the middle if their chest. Ah but then the spoilsports at the FA… Read more »
Prevention is better than cure. Justice can never be served because it changed the game, and you may revert the ban, but you can’t revert the effects his sending off had on the rest of the game.
Watching a few of the rugby world cup games, I can’t see how the referee consulting the replays delays the game any more than a load of cunts in blue hounding the ref before and after a decision, coupled with a quick jog to consult another official who was further away from the incident and has a worse view.
Do anyone of you think that Cazorla’s legs have gone? I feel, he will not be able to play as many games as the previous seasons. Also, the OX should be benched. He is just not consistent and smart. With so much ability he should be terrorizing opposition defense. Instead he keeps drifting in and out of games..Don’t know when the team will gel and kick on.
